2000–01 1.Lig
The 2000-2001 Turkish First Football League was the 43rd edition of top-flight professional football in Turkey. The season saw many turning points for different teams. Galatasaray, the team that dominated the last decade and won the UEFA Cup, lost the title to Fenerbahçe SK for the first time in five seasons. Fenerbahçe reached to success with Mustafa Denizli, the first Turkish manager to win the league for Fenerbahçe. Southeastern side Gaziantepspor fought for the title for a long time during the season under the manager Erdoğan Arıca and Sakıp Özberk. They lost their hopes for title, when, in the 29th fixture, Fenerbahçe SK defeated them 4-3 at Şükrü Saracoğlu. Gaziantepspor were 3-0 ahead in the half-time. Süper Lig
The Süper Lig (, ''Super League''), officially known as Spor Toto Süper Lig for sponsorship reasons, is a Turkish professional league for association football clubs. It is the top-flight of the Turkish football league system and is run by the Turkish Football Federation. In the 2022–23 season, nineteen clubs compete, where a champion is decided and three clubs are promoted from, and relegated to the 1. Lig. The season runs from August to May, with each club playing 36 matches. Matches are played Friday through Monday. The competition was initially established in 1923. The league succeeded the Turkish Football Championship and the National Division, both being former top-level national competitions. The Süper Lig is currently 20th in the UEFA coefficient ranking of leagues based on club performances in European competitions over the last five years. Kocaelispor is a Turkish football club based in İzmit. They were founded in 1966 and played in the top level between 1980–1988 and 1992–2003. İstanbulspor is a Turkish football and sports club founded by Istanbul High School students in 1926. In 2004–05 they were relegated from the Turkish Süper Lig (Super League) to TFF 1. Lig. Trabzonspor Kulübü is a Turkish sports club located in the city of Trabzon. Formed in 1967 through a merger of several local clubs, the men's football team has won seven Süper Lig championships. Trabzonspor also have a women's football team, and used to have a men's basketball team. Trabzonspor are one of the most decorated clubs in Turkey.
