The president of India ( IAST: ) is the head of state of the Republic of India. The president is the nominal head of the executive, the first citizen of the country, as well as the commander-in-chief of the Indian Armed Forces. Droupadi Murmu is the 15th and current president, having taken office from 25 July 2022. The office of president was created when India officially became a republic on 26 January 1950 after gaining independence on 15th August 1947, when its constitution came into force. The president is indirectly elected by an electoral college comprising both houses of the Parliament of India and the legislative assemblies of each of India's states and territories, who themselves are all directly elected by the citizens. Sunder Singh Bhandari (12 April 192122 June 2005) was an Indian politician, a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh pracharak and politician belonging to the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and Bharatiya Janata Party. Early life and education He was born to Dr. Sujan Singhji Bhandari and Fulkanvarbaiji in Udaipur in 1921 he had his school education at Sirohi and Udaipur and college education at Kanpur. He passed his Graduation degree in law from S.D. College, Kanpur in the year 1941 and Post Graduation in Arts with Psychology from Dayanand Anglo-Vedic College, Kanpur in the year 1942. Career He practised law at then Mewar High Court for some time before joining Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He held numerous responsibilities in RSS. Sukhdev Singh Kang
Sukhdev Singh Kang ( 15 May 1931 – 12 October 2012) was the fourteenth Governor of Kerala from 25 January 1997 to 18 April 2002. He served as a judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court from 19 February 1979 till 23 October 1989 and was subsequently promoted and transferred as the Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, a post he held from 24 October 1989 to 14 May 1993. During his tenure E K Nayanar and A K Antony were the Chief Ministers of Kerala. Following his stint as the Governor of Kerala, he was appointed a member of the National Human Rights Commission 1993. Girish Chandra Saxena
Girish Chandra 'Gary' Saxena (5 January 1928 – 14 April 2017) was a governor of Jammu and Kashmir state in India. Born in Agra in 1928, he joined the Indian Police Service (IPS) and held many positions in police and retired as Director of the Research and Analysis Wing, India's external intelligence agency. He took over as the head of the State on 2 May 1998 for the second time. Earlier, he held the office of the Governor J&K from 26 May 1990 to 13 March 1993. Personal life Saxena was born at Agra in 1928. He had his early education in Government College Allahabad and G.N. K. High School, Kanpur. The governor of Jammu and Kashmir was the head of the Indian state Jammu and Kashmir. When India became independent, Hari Singh was the Maharaja of the Princely State of Jammu and Kashmir. Technically he remained so until 17 November 1952, although from 20 June 1949 his son Karan Singh acted as regent.
