Television in Belgium was introduced in 1953 and began with one channel each in Dutch and French. The country is heavily cabled, with 93% of households watching television through cable as of 2003. The Eurovision Song Contest 2000 was the 45th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Stockholm, Sweden, following the country's victory at the with the song "Take Me to Your Heaven" by Charlotte Nilsson. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Sveriges Television (SVT), the contest was held at the Globe Arena on 13 May 2000. Envie De Vivre
Belgium was represented by Nathalie Sorce with the song "Envie de vivre" at the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, which took place in Stockholm on 13 May. Sorce was the winner of the Belgian national final for the contest, held in Brussels on 18 February. French-language broadcaster RTBF was in charge of the selection of the Belgian entry for the 2000 Contest. Big Brother (Belgian TV Series)
''Big Brother'' is the Belgian version of the international reality television franchise '' Big Brother'' produced by Endemol. The show aired in Flemish Region of Belgium on Kanaal Twee and has had a total of nine seasons. There have been six regular seasons, two celebrity seasons and one all-stars season. The first season of the show aired in 2000. A cooperation series between Belgium and The Netherlands premiered on 4 January 2021 and was aired on VIER in Belgium and RTL5 in The Netherlands. Format The format of ''Big Brother'' has the same format as the international Big Brother franchise. A group of strangers lives together in an isolated home. Kanaal Twee
VTM 2 (formerly Q2) is a Belgian television channel owned by the commercial broadcasting company DPG Media. History The channel was originally known as Kanaal 2. However, it has undergone several rebrandings over the years. At launch in 1995, the channel was branded as Ka2 (Dutch pronunciation of K2), then Kanaal 2. In 2001, it was branded KANAALTWEE. On 12 February 2008 the channel changed its name to 2BE, retaining the 2 but referring to the Belgian ISO Country Code BE. In September 2016, the channel changed its name to Q2. This was an extension of the Qmusic radio station brand owned by Medialaan. On 31 August 2020, Q2 rebranded as VTM 2, as part of a rebranding of the 4 main DPG channels. Bart Kaëll
Bart Kaëll (born 2 August 1960 in Oudenaarde) is the stage name of Bart Marcel Emilienne Gyselinck, a Flemish singer and TV host. Career Kaëll studied music in Antwerp, after finishing school he landed a job as a singer and in 1982 he took part in the ''Baccara-beker'', which he won. In 1983 Kaëll took part in Eurosong (Belgium heats for the Eurovision Song Contest) with the song ''Symphonie'', he finished in third place. His next single ''La mamadora'' did well in the Flemish charts which he released in 1986. Kaëll took part again in Eurosong in 1987 with the song ''Carrousel'', he was a favourite to win and represent Belgium at the Eurovision, however at the close of voting ''Carrousel'' had picked up 58 points placing Kaëll in second place, the winner was Liliane Saint-Pierre. ''Samson & Gert'' is a Flemish children's television series produced by Eline van Noppen, centered on the talking dog Samson and his owner Gert. In its entire run, the show was originally aired on TV1 from Christmas Day 1989 until 1 December 1997, where it moved to Ketnet and continues airing all of its episodes to this day.
