2000 US Open – Men's Doubles
Lleyton Hewitt and Max Mirnyi defeated Ellis Ferreira and Rick Leach in the final, 6–4, 5–7, 7–6 to win the men's doubles tennis title at the 2000 US Open. It was their maiden major title. Alex O'Brien and Sébastien Lareau were the defending champions but chose not to participate with each other. Sébastien partnered with Daniel Nestor, while Alex partnered with Jared Palmer. Both new pairings lost to Hewitt and Mirnyi, in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively. This marked the last major appearance of former world No. 1 and 17-time major champion Mark Woodforde, and thus the last major appearance of the Woodies; they were defeated in the second round by Hewitt and Mirnyi. Lleyton Glynn Hewitt (born 24 February 1981) is an Australian former world No. 1 tennis player. He is the most recent Australian man to win a major singles title, with two at the 2001 US Open and 2002 Wimbledon Championships. David Prinosil
David Prinosil ( cz, David Přinosil; born 9 March 1973) is a former tennis player from Germany, who turned professional in 1991. Prinosil was born in Olomouc, Czechoslovakia, but later moved to Germany. He represented his country at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, where he was defeated in the first round by Daniel Vacek of the Czech Republic. In the doubles competition in Stone Mountain Park he won the bronze medal partnering Marc-Kevin Goellner. Andrei Stanislavovich Olhovskiy (russian: Андре́й Станисла́вович Ольхо́вский; ; born 15 April 1966) is a former tennis player from Russia, who turned professional in 1989. Pieter ("Piet") Norval (born 7 April 1970) is a former tennis player from South Africa, who turned professional in 1988. His most notable achievement was winning the mixed doubles at the French Open in 1999.
