2000 Swedish Touring Car Championship Season
The 2000 Swedish Touring Car Championship season was the fifth Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) season. It was contested over eight rounds (comprising sixteen races) at six different circuits. Norwegian Tommy Rustad won his first championship for the Eje Elgh, Crawford Nissan Racing team and became the first non-Swedish driver to win the championship. Swedish Touring Car Championship
Swedish Touring Car Championship (STCC) was a touring car racing series based in Sweden, but also with rounds in Norway. They began operating in 1996, heavily influenced by the British Touring Car Championship and the success of BTCC racing on Swedish television. There are also a number of support classes that compete with their races alongside STCC; Radical Sportscars, Radical, the Camaro Cup, Superkart, Pro Superbike, the JTCC and the Porsche Carrera Cup Scandinavia. The final STCC season was in 2010, as the series merged with the Danish Touringcar Championship to form the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship. Rules The cars are built according to the Super 2000 rules used in the FIA WTCC. A national counterpart, N2000, also exists to encourage teams to build their own cars without having to have them homologated by FIA. Jens Edman (born 28 December 1976, in Ankarsrum) is a Swedish auto racing driver. Career Most of his career has been spent in Touring car racing, including the Swedish Touring Car Championship, with a best season finish of third in 2001 driving for Flash Engineering in a Volvo S40. Kari Mäkinen (born 5 January 1955) is the former archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. He was elected the 14th Archbishop of Turku and Finland on 11 March 2010, he was installed on 6 June 2010, and he retired on 1 June 2018. The Alfa Romeo 156 (Type 932) is a compact executive car produced by the Italian automobile manufacturer Alfa Romeo. It was introduced at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the Alfa Romeo 155. The 156 received a positive reception and in the following year went on to win the 1998 European Car of the Year award. The 156 saloon was discontinued in Europe late in 2005, while the Q4 Crosswagon continued in production until the end of 2007. The third generation of the BMW 3 Series range of compact executive cars is designated under the model code E36, and was produced by the German automaker BMW from 1990 to 2000.
