Istora Senayan
Gelora Bung Karno Sports Palace ( id, Istana Olahraga Gelora Bung Karno, abbreviated as ''Istora''), the formerly name ''Istora Senayan'' is an indoor sporting arena located in Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia. The capacity of the arena after 2018 reopening is 7,166. This arena is usually used for badminton tournaments. Its maiden event was the 1961 Thomas Cup. It was also used during the 1962 Asian Games and was renovated to host the 2018 edition. Its first post-renovation event was the 2018 Indonesia Masters. During the latter Games, it hosted the badminton and later stages of basketball events. The arena originally was planned to stage the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup and becoming the only Indonesian venue in the three-country joint bid but was moved to a newly-built arena inside the complex. Badminton
Badminton is a racquet sport played using racquets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. Although it may be played with larger teams, the most common forms of the game are "singles" (with one player per side) and "doubles" (with two players per side). Badminton is often played as a casual outdoor activity in a yard or on a beach; formal games are played on a rectangular indoor court. Points are scored by striking the shuttlecock with the racquet and landing it within the opposing side's half of the court. Each side may only strike the shuttlecock once before it passes over the net. Play ends once the shuttlecock has struck the floor or if a fault has been called by the umpire, service judge, or (in their absence) the opposing side. Rikke Olsen
Rikke Olsen Siegemund (born 19 April 1975) is a retired badminton player from Denmark. She won the mixed doubles title at the World Junior Championships in 1992 and the girls' doubles title at the European Junior Championships in 1993. Born in Søndre Roskilde, Olsen came from the badminton family, and started playing at the age of six. She trained in Kastrup-Magleby BK and played for the team for eight seasons, won fourteen National titles, seven World Championships bronze medals, three times runner-up in All England Open, and reached in to the bronze medal match at the Olympic Games in 1996, 2000 and 2004. During her career, she was ranked as world No. 1 in the mixed doubles and No. 2 in the women's doubles. After retiring from the tournament, she became the national junior coach. Michael Søgaard
Michael Skals Søgaard (born 4 February 1969) is a badminton player from Denmark. Career Søgaard made his debut at the national team in 1992. Since then he has won many tournaments for Denmark. Played for the Kastrup-Magleby BK, he has won ten National Championships titles, three bronze medals at the World Championships, and won the mixed doubles title at the World Grand Prix Finals. Lotte Jonathans (born 17 September 1977) is a Dutch former badminton player. Career Jonathans made her debut at the Olympics in the 2000 Sydney, reaching the quarter finals of the women's doubles with Nicole van Hooren. Jonathans made her second appearance at the Olympics in the 2004 Athens. She played in the women's doubles with partner Mia Audina. They had a bye in the first round and defeated Ella Tripp and Joanne Wright of Great Britain in the second. In the quarterfinals, Jonathans and Audina lost to Lee Kyung-won and Ra Kyung-min of South Korea 5–15, 2–15. Eng Hian (; born 17 May 1977) is a retired Indonesian badminton player. A men's doubles specialist, he won major international tournaments, most of them in partnership with Flandy Limpele, between 1999 and 2006. They earned a bronze medal in men's doubles at the badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004 Olympics in Athens. Flandy Limpele (born 9 February 1974) is an Indonesian former badminton player and coach. He competed in four Summer Olympic Games: Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000, Athens 2004, and Beijing 2008. The Indonesia Open ( id, Indonesia Terbuka) in an annual badminton tournament organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI) since 1982. It became part of the BWF Super Series tournament in 2007 and got the Super Series Premier status in 2011.
