2nd Federal Parliament Of Nepal
The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal, was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), 165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list, to the House of Representatives. International Convention Centre, Nepal
The International Convention Centre, formerly known as the Birendra International Convention Centre (BICC), is a major conference venue in Nepal. Located in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, it currently houses the Federal Parliament of Nepal. The complex uniquely blends Nepalese and modern architecture to create a luxuriously decorated solid structure with multifunctional modern facilities. Indira Ranamagar ( ne, इन्दिरा रानामगर) is a Nepalese politician and social worker, currently serving as the House of Representatives (Nepal), Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nepal as of 21 January 2023. In 2022, she was elected to the 2nd Federal Parliament of Nepal from Rastriya Swatantra Party based on proportional representation category. Early life and career Ranamagar was born in at Deuniabasti, Jhapa in eastern Nepal. Upto the age of ten, she had to struggle for her early schooling, however she managed to get admission later and graduated from a local school. After the graduation, she worked as a teacher and eventually moved to Kathmandu. There she got influenced by the works of Parijat (writer), Parijat on the rights of political prisoners. Rajendra Lingden
Rajendra Prasad Lingden is a Nepali politician who is the Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party. He served as a member of the 1st Federal Parliament of Nepal from March 2018 till his resignation in September 2022. Early life and education Rajendra Lingden was born in Amarpur in Panchthar district to Dhan Kumari and Man Prasad Lingden. Career Rajendra Lingden defeated Krishna Prasad Sitaula who worked under Girija Prasad Koirala. Sitaula was considered Koirala's right-hand person to bring Maoists, UML and other parties together. In 2021, Lingden was elected as the chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party by defeating Kamal Thapa. Lingden got 1,844 votes while Kamal Thapa got 1,617 votes. A total of 413 votes were invalidated. Stating that he would accept defeat, Thapa tweeted and congratulated Lingden on his victory. Biraj Bhakta Shrestha ( ne, विराजभक्त श्रेष्ठ) is a Nepalese politician and the current Minister of Youth and Sports serving since 6 March 2024. He is a member of Rastriya Swatantra Party. He was elected to the House of Representatives from Kathmandu 8 in the 2022 general elections. He secured victory over the runner-up candidate by a margin of approximately five thousand votes. An electoral list is a grouping of candidates for election, usually found in proportional or mixed electoral systems, but also in some plurality electoral systems. An electoral list can be registered by a political party (a party list) or can constitute a group of independent candidates. Parliamentary Constituencies Of Nepal
The House of Representatives (Nepal), House of Representatives of Nepal (the lower house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, Federal Parliament) has 165 constituencies, of which 165 elect a single member using first-past-the-post voting and one nationwide constituency that elects 110 members by proportional representation. The current constituencies are based on the Constituency Delimitation Commission (CDC) report submitted on 31 August 2017. According to the constitution, the new constituencies cannot be altered for another 20 years (until 2037) and cannot be challenged in any court of law. National Assembly (Nepal)
The National Assembly or Rastriya Sabha ( ne, राष्ट्रिय सभा; ) is the upper house of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, the lower house being the House of Representatives. The composition and powers of the Assembly are established by Part 8 and 9 of the Constitution of Nepal. There are a total of 59 members: 8 members are elected from each of the seven provinces by an electoral college of each province, and three are appointed by the President on recommendation of the government.
