2026 United States Elections
The 2026 United States elections are scheduled to be held, in large part, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. During this U.S. midterm election, which will occur during the term of the president elected in the 2024 United States presidential election, all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate will be contested to determine the 120th United States Congress. Thirty-nine state and territorial U.S. gubernatorial elections, as well as numerous state and local elections, will also be contested. United States Midterm Election
Midterm elections in the United States are the Elections in the United States, general elections that are held near the midpoint of a President of the United States, president's four-year term of office, on Election Day (United States), Election Day on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. Federal offices that are up for election during the midterms include all 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives, and 33 or 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate. In addition, 34 of the 50 U.S. states elect their Governor (United States), governors for four-year terms during midterm elections, while Vermont and New Hampshire elect governors to two-year terms in both midterm and presidential elections. Karen Bass
Karen Ruth Bass (; born October 3, 1953) is an American politician, social worker and former physician assistant who is serving as the 43rd mayor of Los Angeles since 2022. A member of the Democratic Party, Bass had previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2022, representing from 2011 to 2013 and from 2013 to 2022. Hillary Schieve
Hillary Louise Schieve (born October 12, 1970) is an American businesswoman and politician from the U.S. state of Nevada. She has been the mayor of Reno, Nevada since 2014 and is not affiliated with a political party. Career Schieve was on the Reno City Council from 2012 to 2014. Schieve was one of 20 candidates on the primary ballot in 2014. She ultimately ran for mayor in 2014 and beat her opponent, Raymond "Pez" Pezonella, a Democrat, 60.90% to 39.10% in the Washoe County election. She was elected to the position of City of Reno Mayor on November 4, 2014, and sworn in eight days later. Muriel Bowser
Muriel Elizabeth Bowser (born August 2, 1972) is an American politician serving since 2015 as the eighth mayor of the District of Columbia. A member of the Democratic Party, she previously represented the 4th ward as a member of the Council of the District of Columbia from 2007 to 2015. She is the second female mayor of the District of Columbia after Sharon Pratt, and the first woman to be reelected to that position. Elected to the Advisory Neighborhood Commission in 2004, Bowser was elected to the council in a special election in 2007, to succeed Adrian Fenty, who had been elected mayor. David Holt (politician)
David Holt (born March 10, 1979) is an American attorney, businessman and Republican politician who is the 36th mayor of Oklahoma City. He is a member of the Osage Nation. He is the youngest mayor of Oklahoma City since 1923; during his first year in office, he was the youngest mayor of a U.S. city over 500,000. He is Oklahoma City's first Native American mayor. His signature achievement as mayor has been the passage of MAPS 4 in 2019, a $1.1 billion initiative including 16 projects, which voters approved in a landslide. Sheng Thao (, born 1985) is an American politician serving as the District 4 councilmember and the president pro tempore of the Oakland City Council. She is also the Mayor-elect of Oakland. She was the first Hmong woman to be elected as a member of the city council in the state of California and the first Hmong person elected to the Oakland City Council, and is the first Hmong American woman to become mayor of a major city in the United States.
