2025 World Men's Handball Championship
The 2025 IHF World Men's Handball Championship, will be the 29th event hosted by the International Handball Federation. It will be held in Croatia, Denmark and Norway in January 2025. Bidding process Five nations expressed interest in hosting the tournament. The awarding of the event took place at the IHF Council meeting in Cairo, Egypt on 28 February 2020. Croatia, Denmark and Norway were chosen as the hosts. This will be the second time Croatia will host the World Men's Handball Championship, the third for Denmark, and the first for Norway. *// * * Venues The tournament is expected to take place in 11 cities: Zagreb, Split, Varaždin, Poreč and Dubrovnik in Croatia, Copenhagen and Herning in Denmark and Trondheim, Stavanger, Drammen and Oslo in Norway. IHF World Men's Handball Championship
The IHF Men's Handball World Championship has been organized indoor by the International Handball Federation since 1938. In the twenty-seven tournaments held, eleven nations have won the title. France men's national handball team, France is the most successful team with six titles, followed by Sweden men's national handball team, Sweden and Romania men's national handball team, Romania with four titles each. The current champion is Denmark men's national handball team, Denmark, which won its second title at the 2021 tournament in Egypt. Trondheim Spektrum (formerly Nidarøhallen) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Trondheim, Norway. It is located on the peninsula of Øya next to the Nidelven river. It is the home arena for women's handball team Byåsen HE. A new arena was completed in 2019 and replaced the largest multi-use hall in the same location. The eight former halls originally went by the name Nidarøhallen. Next to the halls is the athletics facility Øya stadion and the Trondhjems Tennis Club (TTK) with four outdoor clay courts and indoor tennis hall. Žatika Sport Centre
Žatika Sport Centre is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Poreč, Croatia. It was built for the needs of the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship, and formally opened on 21 November 2008. Total area of the hall is about 14,000 square metres, and it has a total seating capacity of around 3,700. The hall will host again in 2025 with the country, Denmark and Norway. Apart from the big hall, a small hall is being planned too. It will have 213.40 square metres. There will be a fitness hall of 86.26 square metres as well, on the same level with the main courts. Along with all following contents, there will be additional room for restaurants and sport clubs' needs, as well as for a number of temporary objects for events and fairs. Varaždin Arena
The Varaždin Arena is a multi-use indoor arena in Varaždin, Croatia. It is used mostly for team handball, volleyball and basketball games. The stadium has a capacity of 5,400 and was officially opened on 6 December 2008. It was completed to be used as one of the venues during the 2009 World Men's Handball Championship hosted in Croatia. The Spaladium Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in Split, Croatia. It was opened in December 2008, and hosted the following month's World Men's Handball Championship in 2009. The hall will host the event again in 2025 with Croatia, Denmark, and Norway as national co-hosts. , Spaladium Arena had been closed for more than a year over the inability of its operators to cover the maintenance costs.
