2025 Women's Afrobasket
The 2025 AfroBasket Women will be the 29th edition of the tournament and held in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The top four teams will qualify for one of the qualifying tournaments for the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup. Nigeria are the four-time defending champions, having beaten Senegal at the previous edition in Kigali, Rwanda. Host selection Ivory Coast won the hosting rights for the first time ever on 26 March 2024. Qualification Excluding the hosts and automatically qualified teams, nine teams entered regional qualification. Games were played from August 2024 to February 2025, to determine the 12 nations who will qualify for the tournament. Of the qualified teams, eleven appeared at the previous edition. Due to the lack of teams taking part, FIBA Africa awarded four wildcards rather than the usual two. Those teams were Egypt, Guinea, Mozambique and South Sudan.
