2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court Election
The 2025 Wisconsin Supreme Court election is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2025, to elect a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court for a ten-year term. Incumbent justice Ann Walsh Bradley has indicated she will seek a fourth ten-year term. Bradley has served on the court since 1995; if she wins the 2025 Supreme Court election and serves to the end of that term, she would become the second longest-serving justice in the history of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. No incumbent justice has ever been defeated after previously having won a contested Wisconsin Supreme Court election. If more than two candidates file to run for this seat, a nonpartisan primary election will be held February 18, 2025, with the top two vote-getters advancing to the April 1 general election. Ann Walsh Bradley
Ann Walsh Bradley (born July 5, 1950) is a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. She was elected to the Supreme Court in 1995 and was re-elected in 2005 and 2015. She previously served ten years as a Wisconsin circuit court judge in Marathon County, Wisconsin. Biography Justice Bradley was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin. She earned her bachelor's degree in 1972 from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. She worked as a high school teacher at Aquinas High School in La Crosse, Wisconsin, before entering the University of Wisconsin Law School, where she earned a J.D. degree in 1976. 2015 Wisconsin Elections
The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Election was held in the U.S. state of Wisconsin on April 7, 2015. There was a contested election for justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as well as several other nonpartisan local and judicial elections and an amendment to the Constitution of Wisconsin to change the process for selection of the chief justice of the State Supreme Court. In addition, the ballot contained a special election to fill a vacancy in the 20th State Senate district. The 2015 Wisconsin Spring Primary was held February 17, 2015. In the Wisconsin Supreme Court election, the Democrats' preferred candidate, incumbent Ann Walsh Bradley, was reelected. Wisconsin Supreme Court
The Wisconsin Supreme Court is the highest appellate court in Wisconsin. The Supreme Court has jurisdiction over original actions, appeals from lower courts, and regulation or administration of the practice of law in Wisconsin. Location The Wisconsin Supreme Court normally sits in its main hearing room in the East Wing of the Wisconsin State Capitol building in Madison, Wisconsin. Brad Schimel (born February 18, 1965) is an American prosecutor and judge. He was the 44th Attorney General of Wisconsin, serving from 2015 to 2019. He was defeated seeking re-election in 2018 Wisconsin Attorney General election, 2018, and was subsequently appointed Wisconsin circuit courts, Wisconsin Circuit Court Judge in Waukesha County, Wisconsin, by Governor Scott Walker (politician), Scott Walker. Shelley Ann Grogan (born August 14, 1967) is an American lawyer and judge, currently serving on the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Waukesha-based District II court. She previously served as a municipal judge in Muskego, Wisconsin. Biography Grogan received her bachelor's degree from Marquette University in 1989, and went directly into Marquette University Law School, where she earned her J.D. in 1992. Early in her legal career, she worked as a clerk to three judges of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, Ted Wedemeyer, Ralph Adam Fine, and Rebecca Bradley. The Wisconsin Court of Appeals is an intermediate appellate court that reviews contested decisions of the Wisconsin circuit courts.
