2024–25 Virginia Cavaliers Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team represented the University of Virginia during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were led by interim head coach Ron Sanchez after former head coach Tony Bennett announced his retirement before the start of the season on October 17, 2024. They played their home games at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, Virginia, as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. Despite the last-minute coaching change, the Cavailers started the season 3–0, including a ten-point victory over Villanova in the Hall of Fame Series. Ron Sanchez
Ron Sanchez is a college basketball coach who most recently served as the interim head coach for the Virginia Cavaliers men's basketball team. He was appointed interim head coach in October 2024 following Tony Bennett's surprise retirement. He previously served as the head coach of the men's basketball team at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte from 2018 until he resigned following a 22-14 season to rejoin the University of Virginia as assistant head coach on June 6, 2023. Playing career Sanchez attended James Monroe High School in the Bronx and played collegiately at State University of New York at Oneonta where he was a two-time State University of New York Athletic Conference all-conference selection, and SUNYAC Player of the Year for the 1995–96 season. He was inducted into the Red Dragons' athletic hall of fame in 2007. 2024–25 NC State Wolfpack Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by eighth-year head coach Kevin Keatts and played their home games at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). The Wolfpack started the season well with five straight wins over non-Power 4 opponents before traveling to San Diego, California to participate in the Rady Children's Invitational. 2024-25 Syracuse Orange Men's Basketball Team
A coxless four, abbreviated as a 4- and also called a straight four, is a racing shell used in the sport of competitive rowing. It is designed for four persons who propel the boat with sweep oars, without a coxswain. The crew consists of four rowers, each having one oar. There are two rowers on the stroke side (rower's right hand side) and two on the bow side (rower's lefthand side). As there is no coxswain, the rudder is controlled by one of the crew, normally with the rudder cable attached to the toe of one of their shoes which can pivot about the ball of the foot, moving the cable left or right. The 2024–25 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men's basketball team represented the Georgia Institute of Technology during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 2024–25 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represented the University of Pittsburgh during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Panthers were led by seventh-year head coach Jeff Capel and played their home games at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers started the season well, winning four straight games before their Thanksgiving tournament. The highlight of that run was a 86–62 rivalry victory over West Virginia. The Hokies, led by sixth-year head coach Mike Young, played their home games at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Virginia, as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Virginia–Virginia Tech rivalry is an American college rivalry that exists between the Virginia Cavaliers sports teams of the University of Virginia (called Virginia in sports media and abbreviated ''UVA'') and the Virginia Tech Hokies sports teams of Virginia Tech, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (called Virginia Tech and abbreviated ''VT'').
