2024–25 Boston College Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 Boston College Eagles men's basketball team represented Boston College during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles were led by fourth-year head coach Earl Grant and played their home games at the Conte Forum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Eagles won their opening game of the season against The Citadel, but fell in their next game to VCU 80–55. They then won two games before traveling to the Cayman Islands to participate in the Cayman Islands Classic. There they won three straight games to finish as champions. They defeated Old Dominion in the Quarterfinals, Missouri State by two points in the Semifinals, and Boise State by two points in the final. They didn't fare as well upon returning to the United States as they lost their next three games. Earl Grant (basketball)
Earl Grant (born December 25, 1976) is an American college basketball coach and the current head coach for the Boston College Eagles men's basketball team. Prior to being named head coach at Boston College, Grant served as head coach at the College of Charleston, as an assistant coach at Clemson University, and an assistant coach for six years under former Charleston assistant coach Gregg Marshall at Wichita State and Winthrop University. Grant also served as an assistant coach at The Citadel. Biography A native of North Charleston, South Carolina, Grant went to R.B. Stall High School. He played college basketball at the NCAA Division II level at Georgia College for two years. He led Georgia College to consecutive Peach Belt Conference championships and the Elite Eight of the 2000 NCAA Tournament. 2024–25 SMU Mustangs Men's Basketball Team
The 2024–25 SMU Mustangs men's basketball team represented Southern Methodist University during the 2024–25 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Mustangs, led by first-year head coach Andy Enfield, played their home games at Moody Coliseum on their campus in University Park, Texas as first-year members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). On March 21, 2024, the school fired head coach Rob Lanier after two seasons. On April 1, the school named USC head coach Andy Enfield the team's new head coach. Enfield's tenure started with three wins over non-Power 4 opponents. The team then struggled before their Thanksgiving touranment, going 1–2 over three games, losing to Butler and Mississippi State while defeating Prairie View A&M. 2025 National Invitation Tournament
The 2025 National Invitation Tournament (NIT) was a single-elimination tournament of thirty-two NCAA Division I men's college basketball teams not selected to participate in the 2025 NCAA tournament. The tournament commenced on March 18th and concluded on April 3rd. The first three rounds were played on campus sites, with the semifinal and final rounds played at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Six programs made their debut in the NIT: Cal State Northridge, Jacksonville State, North Alabama, Northern Colorado, Samford, and UC Riverside. The University of Tennessee–Chattanooga Mocs defeated the University of California–Irvine Anteaters 85–84 in overtime to claim the championship. 2025 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2025 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament was a single-elimination tournament to determine the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I men's college basketball national champion for the 2024–25 season. The 86th annual edition of the tournament began on March 18, 2025, and concluded on April 7 with the championship game at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) broke the record for the most bids earned to the tournament, with 14 of the 16 teams qualifying. Each regional final game had an SEC team playing. The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) had historic lows, with only four teams earning bids, the smallest percentage of the conference since tournament expansion in 1975. The 2025 ACC men's basketball tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Atlantic Coast Conference held at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, from March 11–15, 2025. It was the seventy-second edition of the tournament, and fourteenth edition held in Charlotte. The tournament was sponsored by T. Rowe Price. Only the top 15 schools were invited to participate in the tournament. This was the first ACC men's basketball tournament in which all ACC teams were not invited to the tournament (barring suspensions).
