2024 Women's European Water Polo Championship
The 2024 Women's European Water Polo Championship will be the 20th running of the tournament. It will be held in Eindhoven, Netherlands from 5 to 13 January 2024. It was scheduled to be held in Netanya, Israel, But the competition was taken away from Israel for security reasons after the 2023 Israel–Hamas war commenced. This edition will be the first one to be played by 16 teams. Host selection The championship was originally going to be held in Tel Aviv, Israel between 7 and 21 October 2023 (although it would still be called the 2024 European Championship). But on 31 March 2023, it was moved to the Israeli city of Netanya and rescheduled for 3 to 16 January 2024 at the Wingate Institute, Wingate Institute Olympic swimming pool. Women's European Water Polo Championship
The European Water Polo Championship is a sport competition for national water polo teams, currently held biannually and organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation (LEN), the governing European Aquatic sports, aquatics federation. There are both men's and women's competitions. The first European Water Polo Championship was held in 1926 in Budapest, Hungary, with just a men's competition. The women for the first time competed in 1985 (Oslo, Norway) for the European title. The water polo tournament was part of the LEN European Aquatics Championships, European Aquatics Championships up to and including 1997, and from 1999 the event was separated and got its own independent tournament. Water Polo At The 2024 Summer Olympics – Women's Tournament
The water polo tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris are scheduled to run from 27 July to 11 August. Preliminary water polo matches will occur at Paris Aquatics Centre, with the final playoffs staged at the iconic Paris La Défense Arena. Similar to the previous edition, twenty-two teams (twelve for men and ten for women) will compete against each other in their respective tournaments. Qualification The International Olympic Committee and the World Aquatics (AQUA) have ratified and released the qualification criteria for Paris 2024. The host nation France reserves a direct quota place each in the men's and women's tournament with the remainder of the total quota attributed to the eligible NOCs through a tripartite qualification pathway.
