2024 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament
The 2024 Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament was a single-elimination tournament of 32 NCAA Division I women's college basketball teams not selected to participate in the 2024 NCAA tournament. The tournament began on March 21 and ended on April 3. The first three rounds were played on campuses, with the semifinal and championship final played at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. It was the inaugural edition of the postseason Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament. Illinois won the tournament, marking the program's first-ever postseason tournament championship. Participants Teams and pairings for the 2024 WBIT were released by the WBIT Committee on Sunday, March 17, 2024. Hinkle Fieldhouse
Hinkle Fieldhouse (named Butler Fieldhouse from 1928 until 1966) is a basketball arena on the campus of Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Completed in early 1928, it was the largest basketball arena in the United States until 1950. The facility was renamed Hinkle Fieldhouse in 1966 in honor of Butler's longtime coach and athletic director, Paul D. "Tony" Hinkle. It is the sixth-oldest college basketball arena still in use. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and designated a U.S. National Historic Landmark in 1987, Hinkle Fieldhouse is sometimes referred to as "Indiana's Basketball Cathedral." The 2023–24 TCU Horned Frogs women's basketball team represented Texas Christian University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Horned Frogs, were led by first-year head coach Mark Campbell and played their home games at the Schollmaier Arena as members of the Big 12 Conference.
