The 2024 West Virginia Attorney General election will be held on November 5, 2024, to elect the next attorney general of West Virginia, concurrently with the 2024 U.S. presidential election, as well as various state and local elections, including for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and governor of West Virginia. West Virginia's 1st Senate district is one of 17 districts in the West Virginia Senate. It is currently represented by Republican Ryan Weld and Republican Laura Wakim Chapman . All districts in the West Virginia Senate elect two members to staggered four-year terms. Geography District 1 is based in the Northern Panhandle, covering all of Brooke, Hancock, and Ohio Counties and parts of Marshall County. It includes the communities of Wheeling, Chester, New Cumberland, Weirton, Follansbee, Wellsburg, West Liberty, and Bethlehem. The 2020 United States Senate election in West Virginia was held on November 3, 2020, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the State of West Virginia, concurrently with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the United States Senate in other states, elections to the United States House of Representatives and various state and local elections. South Charleston is a city in Kanawha County, West Virginia, United States. It is located to the west of Charleston. The population was 13,639 at the 2020 census. South Charleston was established in 1906, but not incorporated until 1917. The Criel Mound built circa 0 B.C. by the Adena culture is adjacent to the downtown business district. Matthew George Whitaker (born October 29, 1969) is an American lawyer, lobbyist and politician who served as the acting United States Attorney General from November 7, 2018, to February 14, 2019. WTOV-TV (channel 9) is a television station licensed to Steubenville, Ohio, United States, serving the Wheeling, West Virginia–Steubenville, Ohio market as an affiliate of NBC and Fox.
