2024 Speedway Grand Prix
The 2024 Speedway Grand Prix season is the 30th season of the Speedway Grand Prix era, and will decide the 79th FIM Speedway World Championship. It is the third series promoted by Discovery Sports Events. A new sprint race was introduced at selected Grand Prix during the qualifying session, with the fastest rider in each qualifying session progressing to a single race for extra points. The idea behind the sprint race was similar to that brought into the Formula One, whereby the qualifying sessions were given more importance. Bartosz Zmarzlik is the defending champion, having won the previous two titles. Summary Jack Holder won the opening round, which was the first Grand Prix win of his career. After Jason Doyle won round two, Mikkel Michelsen won his maiden Grand Prix by claiming the German Grand Prix. Speedway Grand Prix
Speedway Grand Prix are a series of stand-alone motorcycle speedway events over the course of a season used to determine the Speedway World Champion. The series started in 1995 replacing the previous format of a single event final. The first winner was Hans Nielsen of Denmark. Event format The format for a Grand Prix changed for the 2007 season onwards. Sixteen riders take part in each Grand Prix and over the course of twenty heats each rider will race against every other rider once. The top eight scorers advance to a semi-final and from each semi-final the 1st and 2nd placed riders will advance to the GP final. In this format all rides counted towards Grand Prix points totals, including the semi-final and final, the maximum points for a single GP is 21 (5x heat wins, semi final win and final win). Dimitri Bergé (born 5 February 1996) is a French speedway rider. Career International Bergés' major honours include the 2009 125cc Grasstrack and the World 250cc Longtrack Champion 2012. He was World Under-21 finalist in 2016 and 2017 and represented France in the 2018 Speedway of Nations. As well as Speedway he is an accomplished Long Track rider and won a bronze medal in the 2015 Individual Long Track World Championship. Luke Becker (born 11 February 1999) is a speedway rider from the United States. Career Becker began his British career riding for Wolverhampton Wolves in 2019. Unable to ride during 2020 because of Covid-19 cancelled season, he continued to ride for Wolverhampton during the SGB Premiership 2021. In 2022, he rode for the Wolverhampton Wolves in the SGB Premiership 2022. Rasmus Jensen is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He is currently riding for Holsted Tigers in the Danish Speedway League and Gdańsk in the Polish Ekstraliga. Career Rasmus Jensen's career began in the year 2001. His first season in British racing was with Plymouth in 2013; at the end of the season, his official average was 7.
