2024 Serbian Local Elections
Local elections were held in a majority of cities and municipalities in Serbia (excluding the disputed territory of Kosovo) on 2 June 2024. Background Initially, the Serbian government planned to hold a local election only for the City Assembly of Belgrade on 2 June, with the other local elections taking place later in the year. The Belgrade vote was required due to the city assembly's failure to constitute itself after the 2023 Belgrade City Assembly election, while the other elections were scheduled to take place in accordance with Serbia's regular local electoral cycle. Ana Brnabić, the president of the national assembly, contended that holding all local elections on 2 June would require a change in Serbia's law on local elections and would unfairly restrict the mandate of those elected in the last regular local election in 2020. Dragan Đilas ( sr-cyr, Драган Ђилас, , born 22 February 1967) is a Serbian businessman and politician who served as the mayor of Belgrade from 2008 to 2013. From 25 November 2012 until 31 May 2014, he served as the President of the Democratic Party (DS), the nation's main opposition party. As a member of the Democratic Party, Đilas served as the mayor of the Serbian capital city between 2008 and 2013. The Serbian Movement "Dveri" ( sr-Cyr, Српски покрет Двери, Srpski pokret Dveri), commonly just known as Dveri (), is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Serbia. It its currently led by Boško Obradović, who is one of the co-founders of the party. Formed as a youth-orientated political organization in 1999, it published an eponymous student magazine that promoted clerical and nationalist content. The National Democratic Alternative (, NADA) is a national-conservative political coalition in Serbia, led by the New Democratic Party of Serbia (NDSS) and Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia (POKS). The New Face of Serbia ( sr, Ново лице Србије, Novo lice Srbije, abbr. NLS) is a political party in Serbia. Miloš Parandilović has served as its president since its formation in September 2022. Parandilović was previously a member of the Movement for the Restoration of the Kingdom of Serbia. Ecological Uprising
Ecological Uprising ( sr-cyr, Еколошки устанак, Ekološki ustanak, EU) was a political and protest movement in Serbia that gained presence during the 2021–2022 Serbian environmental protests. It was led by Aleksandar Jovanović Ćuta, who was elected to the National Assembly of Serbia at the head of We Must (''Moramo'') coalition in the 2022 Serbian parliamentary election. The Movement of Free Citizens ( sr-cyrl, Покрет слободних грађана, Pokret slobodnih građana, PSG) is a liberal political organization in Serbia.
