2024 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 Northeast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the Northeast Conference for the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The tournament took place on three dates between March 6 and 12, 2024, and all tournament games were played in the home arenas of the higher-seeded school. The winner, Wagner, received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA tournament. Merrimack was the defending champion. Due to Merrimack's ineligibility as a team transitioning from Division II, Fairleigh Dickinson represented the conference in the 2023 NCAA tournament and advanced to the second round. Seeds The top eight teams in the conference regular-season standings qualified. Effective for the 2023–24 academic year, NEC teams transitioning from Division II are eligible for the NEC tournament during the entirety of their transition periods. Merrimack Athletics Complex
The Merrimack Athletics Complex is the home of the Merrimack College Merrimack Warriors, Warriors athletics teams. It has a basketball court and hockey arena. Hammel Court, located in the Volpe Athletic Center, is the home of the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the volleyball team. Lawler Rink is the home of the Division I Merrimack Warriors men's ice hockey team, which had won the 1978 Division II national title before transitioning to Division I and joining the Hockey East, Hockey East Conference. The athletic center is named for S. Peter Volpe, a member of the college's Board of Trustees and benefactor. His construction company was responsible for the building of the McQuaid Library on campus. His brother, John Volpe, was U.S. Secretary of Transportation under President Richard M. Nixon. 2023–24 Central Connecticut Blue Devils Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Central Connecticut Blue Devils men's basketball team represented Central Connecticut State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Blue Devils, led by third-year head coach Patrick Sellers, played their home games at the William H. Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, Connecticut as members of the Northeast Conference (NEC). The Blue Devils finished the season 20–11, 13–3 in NEC play, to finish in a tie for first place. In the NEC tournament, they defeated Saint Francis (PA) in the quarterfinals before falling to Wagner in the semifinals. The Le Moyne Events Center is a multi-purpose arena in DeWitt, New York, United States, that serves as the home arena for the Le Moyne Dolphins women's basketball and volleyball, and men's basketball teams on the campus of Le Moyne College. The venue is sometimes identified as the Event Center. At halftime of Le Moyne men's basketball game against Daemen on November 30, 1999, the hardwood playing surface within the Events Center was named Ted Grant Court in honor of G. Edward Grant, a member of Le Moyne's inaugural class of 1951, who had recently contributed $250,000 to a Le Moyne athletics fundraising campaign.
