2024 Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The 2024 Mountain West Conference women's basketball tournament is the postseason women's basketball tournament for the Mountain West Conference. It is to be held March 10–13, 2024, at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in Paradise, Nevada. The tournament champion will receive the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Seeds All 11 Mountain West schools will participate in the tournament. Teams are to be seeded by conference record with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical percentages. The top five teams will receive byes into the tournament quarterfinals. The remaining teams will play in the first round. Paradise is an unincorporated town and census-designated place (CDP) in Clark County, Nevada, United States, adjacent to the city of Las Vegas. It was formed on December 8, 1950. The Thomas & Mack Center is a multi-purpose arena located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. It is home of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team of the Mountain West Conference. History The facility was first opened in the summer of 1983. The gala grand opening was held on December 16, 1983, featuring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Diana Ross. Lindy La Rocque (born December 15, 1989) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the UNLV Lady Rebels basketball, women's basketball team at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Early life and education La Rocque was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. She graduated from Durango High School (Nevada), Durango High School in Las Vegas in 2008. At Durango, La Rocque played at shooting guard. With her strengths being in scoring and three-point shooting, La Rocque won Nevada All-State honors in all four years, second team honors in 2005 and 2006 then first team honors in 2007 and 2008. With a 4.7 GPA, La Rocque was the valedictorian of her high school class. ESPN graded La Rocque 70 points out of 100 as a high school recruit. The Mountain West Conference (MW) is one of the collegiate athletic conferences affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) (formerly I-A). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Tournament
The Mountain West Conference women's basketball tournament is the conference championship tournament in women's basketball for the Mountain West Conference. It is a single-elimination tournament involving all of the 11 league schools, and seeding is based on regular-season records with head-to-head match-up as a tie-breaker. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA women's basketball tournament. In the first round, the #8 seed plays the #9 seed, the #7 seed plays the #10 seed, and the #6 seed plays the #11 seed, with the 3 top seeds (ranked by conference record) play the winners of those respective games, while the #4 and #5 seed play each other.
