2024 Birthday Honours (New Zealand)
The 2024 King's Birthday Honours in New Zealand, celebrating the official birthday of Charles III, King Charles III, were appointments made by the King in his right as Monarchy of New Zealand, King of New Zealand, on the advice of the New Zealand government, to New Zealand royal honours system, various orders and honours to reward and highlight good works by New Zealanders. This was the first honours list to include appointments to the renamed King's Service Order (formerly the Queen's Service Order) and award of the associated King's Service Medal (previously the Queen's Service Medal), following the Death and state funeral of Elizabeth II, death of Elizabeth II and the accession of Charles III in 2022. Charles III
Charles III (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is King of the United Kingdom and the 14 other Commonwealth realms. He was the longest-serving heir apparent and Prince of Wales and, at age 73, became the oldest person to accede to the British throne following the death of his mother, Elizabeth II, on 8 September 2022. Charles was born in Buckingham Palace during the reign of his maternal grandfather, King George VI, and was three when his mother ascended the throne in 1952, making him the heir apparent. He was made Prince of Wales in 1958 and his investiture was held in 1969. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, as was his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
