2024–25 Stade Malien Basketball Season
The 2025 Stade Malen men's basketball season is the 65th season in club history and the 2nd season of the team in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The Whites of Bamako qualified for their second BAL after Road to BAL. After a third place in 2023, Stade Malien did not qualify for the BAL the previous season as they withdrew their place in the qualifying tournament due to financial reasons. This season, Boubacar Kanouté took over the team from Kaba Kanté. In the buildup for the Road to BAL, the team acquired Cartier Diarra, who had previously played with the Cape Town Tigers, They officially qualified on November 10, 2024, following the semifinal win over KSA from Cameroon. In the 2025 BAL season, Stade Malien lost all six games in the Kalahari Conference of the group phase, and was thus eliminated. They became the first team in league history to finish a season 0–6. Stade Malien is a Malian basketball team based in Bamako. It is part of the multi-sports club, which also has a football team and rugby team. Founded in 1960, Stade plays in the Ligue 1, the highest level of basketball in Mali. The club is one of the most decorated teams in Mali, having won the Ligue 1 a record nineteen times and the Malian Cup a record twenty-five times. The Palais des Sports Salamatou Maiga is the home arena of the team. Stade Malien were the third placed team in the 2023 season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), and have qualified for the 2025 season as well. Landing Sané (born 19 December 1990) is a French-Senegalsese professional basketball player for Stade Malien for the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Kriol Star is a Cape Verdean professional basketball team based in Praia. They compete in the Capeverdean Basketball League (CBL) and the Basketball Africa League (BAL), as the first Cape Verdean team in league history, having advanced through the Road to BAL, qualifiers. Walter Wallace Hodge Muñoz (born September 21, 1986) is a Puerto Rican- U.S. Virgin Islander professional basketball player for the Cangrejeros de Santurce of the Baloncesto Superior Nacional (BSN). Ivan Almeida (born 10 May 1989) is a Cape Verdean professional basketball player for Kriol Star of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Standing at 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m), he usually plays as small forward. He also plays for the Cape Verde men's national basketball team, Cape Verde national team.
