2023–24 Wagner Seahawks Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Wagner Seahawks men's basketball team represented Wagner College during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Seahawks, led by second-year head coach Donald Copeland, played their home games at the Spiro Sports Center in Staten Island, Staten Island, New York as members of the Northeast Conference. They finished the season 17–16, 7–9 in 2023–24 Northeast Conference men's basketball season, NEC play to finish in sixth place. As the No. 6 seed in the 2024 Northeast Conference men's basketball tournament, NEC Tournament, they defeated 2023–24 Sacred Heart Pioneers men's basketball team, Sacred Heart, 2023–24 Central Connecticut Blue Devils men's basketball team, Central Connecticut, and 2023–24 Merrimack Warriors men's basketball team, Merrimack to win the NEC tournament championship, as a result, they received the conference's automatic bid to the 2024 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament, NCAA tournament for the second time in s ... Donald Copeland
Donald Copeland (born February 11, 1984) is a former Americans, American basketball player and current coach (basketball), coach. He is the current head coach of the Wagner Seahawks men's basketball team. Playing career Copeland played basketball under Bob Hurley at St. Anthony High School (New Jersey), St. Anthony High School where he helped lead the team to two state titles, while also earning all-state honors in New Jersey. He'd play collegiately at Seton Hall Pirates men's basketball, Seton Hall under Louis Orr, and was named a Second Team All-Big East Conference (1979–2013), Big East selection in his senior season. He was voted Seton Hall’s Senior Male Athlete of the Year. After graduation, Copeland would play professionally for nine seasons across Europe and in Puerto Rico. He played on two championship teams in Puerto Rico, including as a member of Leones de Ponce (basketball), Leones de Ponce in 2015.
