2023–24 UMBC Retrievers Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 UMBC Retrievers men's basketball team represented the University of Maryland, Baltimore County during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Retrievers, led by third-year head coach Jim Ferry, played their home games at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Catonsville, Maryland as members of the America East Conference. The Retrievers finished the season 11–21, 6–10 in America East play, to finish in seventh place. They were defeated by UMass Lowell in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament. Previous season The Retrievers finished the 2022–23 season 18–14, 8–8 in America East play, to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place. Jim Ferry
James A. Ferry Jr. (born July 9, 1967) is an American college basketball coach who is the current head coach of the UMBC Retrievers men's basketball team. He formerly served as interim head coach for the 2020–2021 season at Penn State and the head men's basketball coach at Duquesne, Long Island, Adelphi, and Plymouth State. Playing career Ferry played one season at NYIT before transferring to Keene State College for his final three years where he led the Owls in scoring his junior year. Coaching career After graduation, Ferry stayed on as an assistant coach with his alma mater for one season before joining Bentley as an assistant coach from 1991 to 1998. He'd accept his first head coaching job, a single season at Division III Plymouth State, guiding the Panthers to the 1999 Little East Conference regular season title. Rose Hill Gymnasium
Rose Hill Gymnasium is a 3,200-seat multi-purpose arena on the Rose Hill campus of Fordham University in The Bronx, New York City, New York. The arena, which opened in 1925, is the oldest on-campus venue currently used primarily for an NCAA Division I basketball team and the second-oldest overall (with the oldest being Northeastern University's Matthews Arena, which opened in 1910 and currently used for its basketball and hockey teams). The volleyball team of Fordham University also uses the gym. The Rose Hill Gymnasium has a gothic facade in keeping with the rest of Fordham University's buildings. The 2023–24 Fordham Rams men's basketball team represented Fordham University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Rams, led by second-year head coach Keith Urgo, played their home games at Rose Hill Gymnasium in The Bronx, New York as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Previous season This was the Rams' first 20-win season since the 1990–91 season. The Rams finished the 2022–23 season 25–8, 12–6 in A-10 Play for a three-way tie for 2nd place.
