2023–24 Summit League Men's Basketball Season
The 2023–24 Summit League men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 6, 2023, and began conference play on December 29, 2023. The regular season ended on March 2, 2024, and set up the 2024 Summit League men's basketball tournament from March 8 to March 12, 2024. South Dakota State finished league play with a 12-4 record as the regular season champion. In the postseason, after winning the Summit League tournament, South Dakota State was slotted as a 15 seed in the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. They lost to Iowa State in the first round. Conference Changes Following the end of the 2023 Spring sports regular season, Western Illinois announced they would be leaving the Summit League effective July 1, 2023 for the Ohio Valley Conference in all sports except men's soccer. The Grand Canyon Antelopes men's basketball team represents Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. They are a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). They are led by head coach Bryce Drew and play their home games at Global Credit Union Arena. They made the jump to NCAA Division I and joined the WAC on July 1, 2013. Tommy Bruner
Tommy Bruner (born April 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the USC Upstate Spartans, the Jacksonville Dolphins and the Denver Pioneers. High school career Bruner attended Gray Collegiate Academy in Columbia, South Carolina. Eric Nicholas Henderson (born May 30, 1978) is an American basketball coach. He currently coaches the Drake Bulldogs men's basketball team. Playing career Henderson played college basketball at Wayne State College in Nebraska under Greg McDermott where he registered 876 rebounds and 160 career steals. Eric Allen Peterson (born April 17, 1983) is an American basketball coach who is the current head coach of the South Dakota Coyotes men's basketball team. Coaching career While still in college, Peterson served as an assistant coach at La Crescent High School in La Crescent, Minnesota while also working with AAU teams in Wisconsin. In 2005, Peterson began his college coaching career as an assistant at Williston State, before moving on to join the coaching staff at Minnesota State–Moorhead from 2009 to 2011. Johnny Tauer (born September 18, 1972) is an Americans, American psychologist, professor and basketball coach (basketball), coach. The North Dakota State Bison men's basketball team is a part of the athletic program at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota, U.S. They are members of the NCAA Division I and have been part of The Summit League since May 2007.
