2023–24 Saint Mary's Gaels Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Saint Mary's Gaels men's basketball team represented Saint Mary's College of California during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team was led by head coach Randy Bennett in his 23rd season at Saint Mary's. The Gaels played their home games at the University Credit Union Pavilion in Moraga, California, as members of the West Coast Conference (WCC). They finished the season 26–8, 15–1 in WCC play to win the regular season championship. As the No. 1 seed in the WCC tournament, they defeated Santa Clara in the semifinals and beat Gonzaga in the championship to win the WCC tournament. Therefore, they received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament where as the No. 5 seed in the West region, they were upset in the first round by Grand Canyon. Randy Bennett
Randall William Bennett (born June 9, 1962) is an American college basketball coach and the current head men's basketball coach at Saint Mary's College of California. He led the team to several second-place finishes and seven NCAA tournament appearances, culminating in regular season conference championships in 2011, 2012 and 2016 as well as WCC tournament championships in 2010, 2012 and 2019. Early life and college playing career Born in Mesa, Arizona, Bennett graduated from Westwood High School in Mesa and began his collegiate career at Mesa Community College, playing under his father Tom from 1980 to 1982. Bennett then transferred to the University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego). As a senior in the 1984–85 season, Bennett averaged 7.0 points and 1.5 rebounds. The 2023 West Coast Conference men's basketball Tournament was the postseason men's basketball tournament for the West Coast Conference for the 2022–23 season. All tournament games were played at Orleans Arena in the Las Vegas-area community of Paradise, Nevada, from March 2–7, 2023. Seeds All 10 conference teams participated in the tournament. Teams are seeded by record within the conference, with a tiebreaker system to seed teams with identical conference records. The Hawaii Pacific Sharks are the 13 varsity athletic teams that represent Hawaii Pacific University, located in Honolulu, Hawaii, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports. The Sharks compete as members of the Pacific West Conference. Hawaii Pacific University's first venture into intercollegiate athletics came with the formation of the men's basketball team. Logan Johnson (born October 11, 1999) is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the Cincinnati Bearcats and the Saint Mary's Gaels. High school career Johnson attended Saint Francis at Mountain View, California, where he averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals as a senior, leading the Lancers to the Division I Playoffs. 2022–23 UConn Huskies Men's Basketball Team
The 2022–23 UConn Huskies men's basketball team represented the University of Connecticut in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies were led by fifth-year head coach Dan Hurley in the team's third season since their return to the Big East Conference. The Huskies played their home games at the Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut and the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. They finished the season 31–8, 13–7 in Big East play to finish in a tie for fourth place.
