2023–24 Rutgers Scarlet Knights Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Rutgers Scarlet Knights men's basketball team represented Rutgers University–New Brunswick during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Scarlet Knights were led by eighth-year head coach Steve Pikiell and played their home games at Jersey Mike's Arena in Piscataway, New Jersey as members of the Big Ten Conference. They finished the season 15–17, 7–13 in Big Ten play to finish in a tie for 12th place. As the No. 13 seed in the Big Ten tournament, they lost Maryland in the first round. Previous season The Scarlet Knights finished the 2022–23 season 18–13, 10–10 in Big Ten play to finish a tie for ninth place. Steve Pikiell
Stephen Christopher Pikiell ( ; born November 21, 1967) is an American college basketball coach and since March 16th, 2016, the head men's basketball coach at Rutgers. Prior to Rutgers, Pikiell was the head coach at Stony Brook for over a decade, leading the Seawolves to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2016. In 2021, Pikiell led Rutgers to its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 30 years. Early years and playing career Pikiell was born and raised in Bristol, Connecticut, and was one of nine children and graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School in Bristol in 1986. At the University of Connecticut, Pikiell worked as a point guard, two-year captain and four-year letterwinner for the Huskies from 1987 to 1991. He played in 106 career games and averaged 8.2 points a game as a freshman. The Tulane Green Wave men's basketball team represents Tulane University in NCAA Division I college basketball. The team competes in the American Athletic Conference. The Charlotte 49ers men's basketball team represents the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNC Charlotte) in NCAA Division I basketball. The 49ers are charter members of Conference USA. Charlotte returned to C-USA in 2013 after leaving in 2005 to join the Atlantic 10 Conference. Cameron Spencer (born April 6, 2000) is an American professional basketball player for the Memphis Grizzlies of the National Basketball Association (NBA), on a two-way contract with the Memphis Hustle of the NBA G League.
