2023–24 Nicholls Colonels Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Nicholls State Colonels men's basketball team represented Nicholls State University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Colonels, led by first-year head coach Tevon Saddler, played their home games at Stopher Gymnasium in Thibodaux, Louisiana as members of the Southland Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 13–5 in Southland play, to finish third in the conference. Preseason polls Southland Conference Poll The Southland Conference released its preseason poll on October 10, 2023. Tevon Saddler
Tevon Saddler (born February 23, 1995) is an American college basketball coach who is currently the head coach of the Nicholls Colonels men's basketball team. Playing career Saddler started his college basketball career at UNC Greensboro where he was named Southern Conference Freshman of the Year as well as to the All-Freshman team. A year later, he was a third-team all-conference selection. Saddler transferred to Nicholls to play his final season of eligibility and was named a second-team all-Southland Conference selection while also leading the team in rebounding. In his career, he played in 92 games starting in 88, averaging 13.8 points, 5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Coaching career Saddler began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at South Alabama under his former college coach Richie Riley before returning to Nicholls State as the director of basketball operations from 2019 to 2021 under Austin Claunch. The 2023–24 South Alabama Jaguars men's basketball team represented the University of South Alabama in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Jaguars, led by sixth-year head coach Richie Riley, played their home games at the Mitchell Center in Mobile, Alabama as members in the Sun Belt Conference. They finished the season 16–16, 8–10 in Sun Belt play to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place. As the No. 8 seed in the Sun Belt tournament, they lost to Georgia Southern in the second round. Mitchell Center
The Mitchell Center is a 10,041-seat multi-purpose arena on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. It was completed in 1998 and is the home to the University of South Alabama Jaguars basketball teams. The Center is named for the Mitchell family, local real estate developers who have given over US$35 million to various University causes (both the Mitchell Cancer Institute and the Mitchell College of Business are named for them), including $1 million for construction of the Center. The 2023–24 Denver Pioneers men's basketball team represented the University of Denver in the 2023-24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Pioneers, led by third-year head coach Jeff Wulbrun, played their home games at Hamilton Gymnasium in Denver, Colorado as members of the Summit League.
