Two human polls make up the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball rankings, the AP poll and the Coaches Poll, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Legend AP poll The AP poll for women's college basketball poll began during the 1976–77 season, and was initially compiled by Mel Greenberg Mel Greenberg (born April 16, 1947) is an American sports journalist focusing on women's basketball. Since 1970, Greenberg has written for ''The Philadelphia Inquirer'', where he predominantly covers college and professional women's basketball. ... and published by '' The Philadelphia Inquirer''. At first, it was a poll of coaches conducted via telephone, where coaches identified top teams and a list of the top 20 teams was produced. The 2023–24 NC State Wolfpack women's basketball team represented North Carolina State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Wolfpack were led by eleventh-year head coach Wes Moore and played their home games at Reynolds Coliseum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Wolfpack got off to a hot start to the season when they upset second ranked Connecticut in the second game of the season. The Wolfpack were unranked at the time and valuted to fourteenth in the nation with the win. They carried their momentum through the Paradise Jam, defeating number 3 Colorado to win the championship.
