2023–24 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Season
The 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season began on November 6, 2023. The regular season ended on March 17, 2024, with the 2024 NCAA Division I women's basketball tournament beginning on March 20 and ending with the 2024 NCAA Division I women's basketball championship game, championship game at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 7. This season is the first for the Women's Basketball Invitation Tournament, a secondary national tournament operated by the NCAA as a direct parallel to the men's National Invitation Tournament. Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC, ) is a collegiate athletic conference affiliated with NCAA Division I. Of its current 11 full members, 10 are located in three states of the northeastern United States: Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York. The other member is in Maryland. Members are all relatively small private institutions, a majority Catholic or formerly Catholic, with the only exceptions being two secular institutions: Rider University and Quinnipiac University. Paige Madison Bueckers ( ; born October 20, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the University of Connecticut (UConn) Huskies of the Big East Conference. At Hopkins High School in Minnetonka, Minnesota, Bueckers was ranked as the number one recruit in her class by ESPN and received national high school player of the year honors. In her first season at UConn, Bueckers was a unanimous first-team All-American and became the first freshman to earn a major national women's college player of the year award, winning all four for which she was eligible. 2023–24 Virginia Tech Hokies Women's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Virginia Tech Hokies women's basketball team represented Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University during the 2023–24 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Hokies were led by eighth-year head coach Kenny Brooks and played their home games at Cassell Coliseum as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hokies started the season ranked number 8 and with a win against High Point before a matchup with number 3 Iowa. The game was a close one, but the Hokies fell 76–80. Elizabeth Ann Kitley (born September 17, 2001) is an American professional basketball player who played college basketball at Virginia Tech. She was drafted in 2024 by the Las Vegas Aces. Early life and high school career Kitley grew up playing basketball, softball and volleyball, preferring softball by fifth grade. She switched her focus to basketball before her freshman year at Northwest Guilford High School in Greensboro, North Carolina, when she stood 6 ft 2 in (1.88 m). Mackenzie Holmes is an American college basketball player for the Indiana Hoosiers of the Big Ten Conference. High school career Holmes played basketball for Gorham High School in Gorham, Maine. Cameron Lee Brink (born December 31, 2001) is an American college basketball player for the Stanford Cardinal of the Pac-12 Conference. Brink attended Mountainside High School and Southridge High School, both in Beaverton, Oregon, where she earned McDonald's All-American honors and was ranked the number three player in her class by ESPN.
