2023–24 Morehead State Eagles Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Morehead State Eagles men's basketball team represented Morehead State University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Eagles, led by seventh-year head coach Preston Spradlin, played their home games at Ellis Johnson Arena in Morehead, Kentucky as members of the Ohio Valley Conference. Previous season With a victory against Eastern Illinois on February 22, 2023, the Eagles clinched their first outright OVC regular season title since 1984. They lost to Southeast Missouri State in the OVC tournament semifinals. As a regular season conference champion who did not win their conference tournament, the Eagles received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament, the school's first trip to the NIT. Preston Spradlin
Preston Spradlin is an American college basketball coach and current head coach for the Morehead State Eagles men's basketball team. Coaching career After a playing career at NAIA Alice Lloyd College, Spradlin joined John Calipari's staff at Kentucky as a graduate assistant from 2009 to 2011, and assistant director of basketball operations from 2011 to 2014. He also aided Calipari with the Dominican Republic national basketball team in 2011 and 2012. Spradlin joined Sean Woods's staff at Morehead State in 2014 as an assistant coach, and was elevated to interim head coach when Woods resigned amid player allegations that he had assaulted them. Clarksville Academy is a private college-preparatory school in Clarksville, Tennessee, offering pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school has several sports teams with a cougar as their mascot and school colors being royal blue and yellow gold.
