2023–24 Indian Women's League
The 2023–24 Indian Women's League was the seventh season of the Indian Women's League, the top division women's professional football league in India. Odisha won their maiden Indian Women's League title by winning their last league match of the season. Format The season is played in a double round-robin format, with each club playing the other twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 12 matches. It is the first IWL season to be played on a home and away basis, as so far the preceding seasons have been held at a centralised venue. Qualification The teams were awarded direct qualification for the 2023–24 season, which qualified for the knockout round and finished in the top eight positions in the 2022–23 season. Originally 8 teams qualified for the season, but Eastern Sporting Union didn't communicate with AIFF on their participation and thus the League Committee decided to continue with the remaining 7 teams for the season. Indian Women's League
The Indian Women's League, known as ''Hero Indian Women's League'' for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp is the women's top tier professional football league in Indian football. Founded in 2016, currently a total of 18 teams from across the country will participate in the league from 2022-23 Season. The competition was planned since 2014 and got established in 2016, with the first season starting from October 2016 in Cuttack. The league was launched as India's first professional football league for women with the aim to increase the player pool for India national team. Since 2019–20, the clubs that become champions are granted an opportunity to play in the AFC Women's Club Championship, the top tier women's club football competition in Asia. New Delhi (, , ''Naī Dillī'') is the capital of India and a part of the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). New Delhi is the seat of all three branches of the government of India, hosting the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Parliament House, and the Supreme Court of India. Kozhikode Corporation EMS Stadium
The EMS Stadium, located in Kozhikode, Kerala, India, is a multi-purpose stadium primarily used for football matches. The stadium most recently was home to the I-League team Gokulam Kerala FC, as well as their IWL women's team. Built in 1977, the stadium hosts 50,000 spectators. It is named after the first Chief Minister of Kerala E. M. S. Namboodiripad. The stadium has played host to several important football tournaments, such as Super Cup, Santhosh Trophy, and Sait Nagjee Football tournament. Gokulam Kerala has been playing their home matches at the EMS Stadium since 2017 and has had a successful run at the stadium winning their first I-League home match against East Bengal FC with a score of 2–1.
