2023–24 Illawarra Hawks Season
The 2023–24 Illawarra Hawks season was the 46th season of the franchise in the National Basketball League (NBL). On 13 May 2023, the Hawks have picked up Jacob Jackomas’s second year team option. On 14 November 2023, Jacob Jackomas was released as Hawks' head coach after the team started the season with a 2–7 record and was replaced by Justin Tatum on an interim basis. On 22 February 2024, prior to the Hawks' playoff campaign, Tatum signed a three-year deal with Illawarra to continue as permanent head coach. Todd Blanchfield
Todd Blanchfield (born 7 November 1991) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Perth Wildcats of the National Basketball League (NBL). He began his NBL career in 2009 with the Townsville Crocodiles, where he played six seasons. Between 2015 and 2020, he played for Melbourne United (2015–17), Sydney Kings (2017–18) and Illawarra Hawks (2018–20). In 2017, he won a gold medal with Australia at the FIBA Asia Cup. Early life Born and raised in Mackay, Queensland, Blanchfield attended Mackay State High School and played for representative teams of Mackay Basketball Association. In January 2008, he travelled to the United States on an Australian schoolboys tour of North Carolina. The 2023–24 Adelaide 36ers season is the 43rd season of the franchise in the National Basketball League (NBL). On 6 December 2023, C. J. Bruton parted ways as 36ers' head coach after the team started the season with a 4–9 record and was replaced by Scott Ninnis on an interim basis. On 22 February 2024, Ninnis signed a two-year contract to continue as head coach. Derwent Entertainment Centre
Derwent Entertainment Centre, also known as the DEC and known commercially as MyState Bank Arena, is the largest indoor arena in Tasmania and the multi-purpose arena is the primary venue in Hobart for large indoor functions/events. It was constructed in 1989 and is situated in between the waterfront of the River Derwent, the Brooker Highway and Tattersalls Park. At maximum capacity, the DEC can accommodate 8,600 people. For sporting events, the venue can accommodate 5,500 people. On 2 July 2020, NBL Owner & Executive Chairman, Larry Kestelman, announced that the Tasmania government had been successful in its bid for a 10th NBL team. Lachlan Olbrich
Lachlan Olbrich (born 30 December 2003) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Illawarra Hawks of the National Basketball League (NBL). In 2022, he was named in the NBL1 Central All-Star Five playing for the Southern Tigers. After a season of college basketball in the United States for UC Riverside, he returned to the NBL1 Central in 2023 and helped the West Adelaide Bearcats win the championship while earning grand final MVP and All-Star Five honours.
