2023–24 East Tennessee State Buccaneers Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 East Tennessee State Buccaneers men's basketball team represented East Tennessee State University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Buccaneers, led by first-year head coach Brooks Savage, played their home games at the Freedom Hall Civic Center in Johnson City, Tennessee, as members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). They finished the season 19–16, 8–10 in SoCon play, to finish in a tie for seventh place. Brooks Savage
Brooks T. Savage (born September 12, 1985) is an American men's college basketball head coach for the East Tennessee State Buccaneers. Early life Born in Columbia, South Carolina, Savage played basketball for the Irmo High School Yellow Jackets under coach Tim Whipple. In college, Savage was a student manager for the University of Tennessee under then head coaches, Buzz Peterson and Bruce Pearl. After completing his undergraduate degree in 2008, Savage became a graduate assistant under Bruce Pearl until 2010. Savage earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in sports management during his time in Knoxville. Desmond Oliver (basketball)
Desmond L. Oliver (born December 4, 1969) is an American college basketball coach who is an assistant coach for the South Florida Bulls. Playing career Oliver played collegiately for one season at Genesee Community College under Bill Van Gundy, the father of Jeff and Stan, before transferring to Dominican College in New York, where he served as a team captain. Coaching career In 1994, Oliver began his college coaching career as an assistant at Niagara where he stayed until 1997 before taking an assistant coaching position under Tony Barone at Texas A&M. Oliver would return to New York with stops at Cornell and St. Bonaventure before joining Bonnies' head coach Jim Baron at Rhode Island where he'd stay as an assistant from 2001 to 2004. The UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team, or UTRGV Vaqueros, represents the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley in Edinburg, Texas, United States. The Richmond Spiders men's basketball team represents the University of Richmond in Richmond, Virginia and currently competes in the Atlantic 10 Conference.
