2023–24 Creighton Bluejays Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team represented Creighton University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Bluejays, coached by 14th-year head coach Greg McDermott, played their home games at the CHI Health Center Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska as members of the Big East Conference. In the 2024 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, the Bluejays won their first round matchup against Akron before following with another victory over Oregon in the round of 32. Unfortunately, their season would end in the Sweet 16 to Tennessee, a team led by National Player of the Year Dalton Knecht. Previous season The Bluejays finished the 2022–23 season 24–13, 14–6 in Big East play to finish in third place. Greg McDermott
Greg McDermott (born November 25, 1964) is an American basketball coach who has been the head coach of the Creighton Bluejays men's basketball team since 2010. Previously, McDermott served as the head coach at Wayne State College, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Iowa State. He is the father of NBA player Doug McDermott. Early life McDermott grew up in Cascade, Iowa, and played basketball for Cascade High School. A 6'8" center, he then played college basketball for the Northern Iowa Panthers from 1984 to 1988. In 1988, he earned a B.A. degree from Northern Iowa. He is the father of current NBA player Doug McDermott. The 2022–23 Xavier Musketeers men's basketball team represented Xavier University during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season as a member of the Big East Conference. Led by Sean Miller in the first season of his second stint after coaching the Musketeers from 2004 to 2009, they played their home games at the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Musketeers finished the season 23–8, 15–5 in Big East play to finish in second place. In the Big East tournament, they defeated DePaul and Creighton to reach the championship game, where they were defeated by Marquette. The team received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, where they defeated Kennesaw State and Pittsburgh to advance to the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2017. The Seattle Redhawks men's basketball team represents Seattle University in NCAA Division I basketball competition. Established in 1946, the team was previously known as the Seattle Chieftains. The Ohio Bobcats men's basketball team is an intercollegiate varsity sports program of Ohio University. The team is a member of the Mid-American Conference competing in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Ryan Nembhard (born March 10, 2003) is a Canadian college basketball player for the Gonzaga Bulldogs of the West Coast Conference (WCC). He previously played for the Creighton Bluejays. Northridge is a neighborhood in the San Fernando Valley region of the City of Los Angeles. The community is home to California State University, Northridge, and the Northridge Fashion Center. 1941 NCAA Basketball Tournament
The 1941 NCAA basketball tournament involved eight schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA college basketball. It began on March 21, 1941, and ended with the championship game on March 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. A total of nine games were played, including a third place game in both regions.
