2023–24 California Golden Bears Men's Basketball Team
The 2023–24 California Golden Bears men's basketball team represented the University of California, Berkeley, in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. This was Mark Madsen's first year as head coach at California. The Golden Bears played their home games at Haas Pavilion as last season members of the Pac-12 Conference after 45 years before they will join the Atlantic Coast Conference in the 2024–25 season. Previous season The Golden Bears started the year losing their first 12 games, the worst for any Power Five team. They won three of their next four games, including two in conference play against Colorado and Stanford. The Golden Beas finished the year losing the last 15 in conference play and the first-round game in the conference tournament. Mark Madsen (basketball)
Mark Ellsworth Madsen (born January 28, 1976) is an American basketball coach and former NBA player who is the head coach of the California Golden Bears of the ACC. Due to his hustle and physical style of play, he received the nickname "Mad Dog" while playing for the San Ramon Valley High School Wolves, and the moniker continued during his time with the Stanford Cardinal and beyond. He played professionally in the National Basketball Association (NBA) with the Los Angeles Lakers, winning two NBA championships. He also played for the Minnesota Timberwolves. College career Madsen played NCAA basketball at Stanford, where he finished his career ranked in the school's career top 10 in blocks and rebounds. Iona Gaels Men's Basketball
The Iona Gaels men's basketball team represents Iona University in New Rochelle, New York in NCAA Division I competition. The school's team competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and plays home games in Hynes Athletic Center. Iona hired Dan Geriot on March 20, 2025. The Gaels have appeared 16 times in the NCAA tournament, most recently in 2023. History Iona University has been competing in Division I basketball since the school's inception in 1940. Jaylon La Rone Tyson (born December 2, 2002) is an American basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and the California Golden Bears. Early life and high school career Tyson was born on December 2, 2002, and grew up in Plano, Texas. The Rice Owls men's basketball program is the intercollegiate men's basketball program of Rice University. The program is classified in the NCAA's Division I, and the team competes in the American Athletic Conference. They previously participated in the Southwest Conference (1914–1996), the Western Athletic Conference (1996–2005), and Conference USA (2005–2023).
