2023–24 Birmingham City F.C. Season
The 2023–24 season is Birmingham City Football Club's 121st season in the English football league system and 13th consecutive season in the second-tier EFL Championship. As with all members of the English Football League, the club's first team also competed in the FA Cup, in which they lost to Leicester City in the fourth round, and the EFL Cup, from which they were eliminated in the second round by Cardiff City. In October, head coach John Eustace was sacked and replaced by Wayne Rooney as manager. Rooney was sacked on 2 January 2024. His successor, Tony Mowbray, stepped back from the role in February to undergo medical treatment, took formal medical leave on 19 March, and Gary Rowett rejoined the club as interim manager. Jay Stansfield (born 24 November 2002) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for club Birmingham City, on loan from club Fulham. He began his football career with Exeter City, joined Fulham as a 16-year-old, and spent the 2022–23 season on loan at Exeter City. He has represented England at under-18 and under-20 levels. Relegation
In sports leagues, promotion and relegation is a process where teams are transferred between multiple divisions based on their performance for the completed season. Leagues that use promotion and relegation systems are often called open leagues. In a system of promotion and relegation, the best-ranked team(s) in the lower division are ''promoted'' to the higher division for the next season, and the worst-ranked team(s) in the higher division are ''relegated'' to the lower division for the next season. Ange Postecoglou
Angelos Postecoglou ( el, Άγγελος Ποστέκογλου, ; born 27 August 1965) is an Australian association football manager and former player, who is the current manager of Scottish Premiership club Celtic. Born in Greece, he moved to Melbourne at the age of five. He spent most of his club career as a defender for South Melbourne Hellas, and played four games for the Australia national team in the late 1980s. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). The English Football League Championship (often referred to as the Championship for short or the Sky Bet Championship for sponsorship purposes) is the highest division of the English Football League (EFL) and second-highest overall in the English football league system, after the Premier League. The English football league system, also known as the football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for men's association football clubs in England, with five teams from Wales, one from Guernsey, one from Jersey and one from the Isle of Man also competing. Birmingham City Football Club
Birmingham City Football Club is a professional football club based in Birmingham, England. Formed in 1875 as Small Heath Alliance, it was renamed Small Heath in 1888, Birmingham in 1905, and Birmingham City in 1943.
