This is a list of notable events in country music that took place in 2023. Events *January 6 – Marty Stuart invites Henry Cho and Gary Mule Deer to become the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry, the first time comedians have been invited in almost 50 years following Jerry Clower in 1973. Cho is the first Asian person to become a member of the Opry. They were inducted on February 11 and March 10 respectively. *January 23 – Gabby Barrett's " Pick Me Up", Lainey Wilson's "Heart Like a Truck" and Carly Pearce's " What He Didn't Do", all reach #4, #8 and #10 respectively at US Country Radio (as measured by Mediabase). Country Music
Country (also called country and western) is a genre of popular music that originated in the Southern and Southwestern United States in the early 1920s. It primarily derives from blues, church music such as Southern gospel and spirituals, old-time, and American folk music forms including Appalachian, Cajun, Creole, and the cowboy Western music styles of Hawaiian, New Mexico, Red Dirt, Tejano, and Texas country. Country music often consists of ballads and honky-tonk dance tunes with generally simple form, folk lyrics, and harmonies often accompanied by string instruments such as electric and acoustic guitars, steel guitars (such as pedal steels and dobros), banjos, and fiddles as well as harmonicas. It's Your Love
"It's Your Love" is a song written by Stephony Smith and originally recorded by American country music artist Tim McGraw. It was released in May 1997 as the first single from his album '' Everywhere''. The song, featuring wife Faith Hill, reached number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart in its fifth week on the chart. The song stayed there for six weeks (the first time a song spent that many weeks there since "Luckenbach, Texas (Back to the Basics of Love)" in 1977), and became McGraw's and Hill's first top-ten hit on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100, peaking at number seven. American pop trio She Moves covered the song in 1997. Music video The music video was directed and produced by Sherman Halsey, and premiered on CMT on May 14, 1997, when CMT named it a "Hot Shot". Stagecoach Festival
The Stagecoach Festival is an outdoor country music festival held annually at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Various artists attend, whether they be mainstream or relatively unknown, ranging from folk, mainstream country, bluegrass, roots rock, americana and alternative country. It is the highest-grossing festival centered on country music in the world. The festival is presented by Goldenvoice, The Messina Group, and Moore Entertainment and acts as a sister event to Goldenvoice's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, taking place the following weekend at the same site. The 2020 and 2021 Stagecoach Festivals were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On June 1, 2021, Stagecoach announced its 2022 return. Vaught–Hemingway Stadium
Vaught–Hemingway Stadium at Hollingsworth Field is an outdoor athletic stadium located in University, Mississippi, United States (although it has an Oxford address). The stadium serves as the home for the University of Mississippi Rebels college football team. The stadium is named after Johnny Vaught and Judge William Hemingway. Granger Kelly Smith (born September 4, 1979), also known by his alter ego, Earl Dibbles Jr., is an American country music singer-songwriter and radio host. 4 Runner was an American country music vocal group founded in 1993 by Craig Morris (lead vocals), Billy Crittenden (baritone vocals), Lee Hilliard (tenor vocals), and Jim Chapman (bass vocals).
