2023 World Women's Handball Championship
The 2023 IHF World Women's Handball Championship will be 26th edition of the championship, organised by the International Handball Federation (IHF), from 29 November to 17 December 2023. to be jointly hosted by Denmark, Norway and Sweden. It will be the third time in handball history that the championship is jointly hosted, the first in Sweden, and also the first to be played in three countries. Bidding process After Russia's withdrawal, Denmark/Norway/Sweden and Hungary entered their bids for hosting the tournament, which was awarded to the three Nordic countries by IHF Council at its meeting held in Paris, France on 28 January 2017. IHF World Women's Handball Championship
The IHF Women's Handball World Championship has been organized by the International Handball Federation since 1957. European teams have won every time except 1995 where South Korea won as the first team outside Europe and 2013 where Brazil won as the first American team. The biggest winners are Russia and Norway with four titles each. Nine teams participated in the first championship, this number has grown in steps to 32 (from 2021). In 1977 a B-tournament was introduced and later in 1986 a C-tournament which served as qualification for the real championship or A-tournament. The B- and C-tournament qualifications were replaced by the present qualification system based on continental confederations in 1993. From 1993 it has been held every other year. 2022 South And Central American Women's Handball Championship
The 2022 South and Central American Women's Handball Championship was the third edition of the championship and held from 15 to 19 November 2022 at Buenos Aires, Argentina under the aegis of South and Central America Handball Confederation. It was the first time in history that the championship is organised by the Argentinean Handball Confederation and also acted as the qualification tournament for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top two teams qualifying. The 2022 African Women's Handball Championship was the 25th edition of the African Women's Handball Championship, which took place from 9 to 19 November 2022, in Dakar, Senegal. The tournament was held under the aegis of African Handball Confederation and acted as the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, with the top four teams qualifying. 2023 World Women's Handball Championship – European Qualification
The European qualification for the 2023 World Women's Handball Championship, in Denmark, Norway and Sweden, was played over two rounds. In the first round of qualification, 18 teams who were not participating at the 2022 European Championship played a knockout round with the winners advancing to the second phase, where the teams were joined by the remaining ten teams from the European Championship and play play-off games to determine the qualified teams. 2022 European Women's Handball Championship
The 2022 European Women's Handball Championship was held in Slovenia, North Macedonia and Montenegro from 4 to 20 November 2022. It showed an impressive action by the norwegian right-back Nora Mørk, who was the top scorer of the EHF EURO 2022, and Henny Reistad, the MVP. The tournament has been advanced a month in order not to coincide with the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. The top three team qualified for the 2023 World Championship and the winner will also qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics. Norway won their ninth title after defeating Denmark in the final. Helsingborg Arena is a multipurpose arena in Helsingborg, Sweden, run by and associated with the municipal companies Helsingborg Events and Idrottspark AB and Helsingborg Arena and Scen AB, respectively. Trondheim Spektrum
Trondheim Spektrum (formerly Nidarøhallen) is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Trondheim, Norway. It is located on the peninsula of Øya next to the Nidelven river. It is the home arena for women's handball team Byåsen HE. A new arena was completed in 2019 and replaced the largest multi-use hall in the same location. The eight former halls originally went by the name Nidarøhallen. Next to the halls is the athletics facility Øya stadion and the Trondhjems Tennis Club (TTK) with four outdoor clay courts and indoor tennis hall.
