Club Throw
The club throw is an athletic throwing event where the objective is to throw a wooden club. The event is one of the four throwing events, along with discus, javelin and shot put of the Summer Paralympics. It is the Paralympic equivalent of the hammer throw. The club throw was introduced for both men and women at the first 1960 Summer Paralympic Games. It was dropped from the women's programme from the 1992 Paralympics in Barcelona but was reinstated for London 2012. Sport rules Like other throwing events, the competition is decided by who can throw the club the farthest, though when the event is contested by athletes of different disability classifications, such as the Paralympics, the result is decided by a points score using the Raza Points System which considers athletes' relative levels of disability. 2023 World Para Athletics Championships
The 2023 World Para Athletics Championships was a Paralympic track and field meet organized by the World Para Athletics subcommittee of the International Paralympic Committee. It was the 10th edition of the event and was held in the Charlety Stadium in Paris, France, from 8 to 17 July 2023. Paris was announced as the host city in December 2021. T51 (classification)
T51 is disability sport classification for athletics. The class includes people with a number of different types of disabilities including spinal cord injuries and cerebral palsy. Similar classifications are T52, T53, T54 and T55. It is for sportspeople with minimal upper body function who use a wheelchair, spinal cord injury class F1 and Les Autres class LAF1. People in this class compete in wheelchair racing events. Definition This classification is for disability athletics. The International Paralympic Committee (IPC; german: Internationales Paralympisches Komitee) is an international non-profit organisation and the global governing body for the Paralympic Movement. Dharambir Nain (born 18 January 1989) is an Indian para-athlete from Haryana. He qualified to represent India at the 2024 Summer Paralympics at Paris and won the gold medal in the men's club throw F51 event. He set an Asian record with his throw of 34.92 m. Early life Nain was born in Badana village, Rohtak, Haryana. He did his schooling at C. R. Z. Senior Secondary School, Sonipat. He was paralyzed below the waist after a diving accident on 2 June 2012 when he hit the rocks in a canal near his aunt's house. His father passed away in 2011, and his accident soon after left him shattered. He was bed ridden for over a year and during this period, the visit of Amit Kumar Saroha to his house along with a friend, has changed his life as Saroha introduced him to sports.
