2023 UCI Road World Championships – Men's Road Race
The men's road race of the 2023 UCI Road World Championships was a cycling event that took place on 6 August 2023 in Glasgow, Great Britain. Dutch cyclist Mathieu van der Poel won the race after a crash in a high speed corner, racing solo, 16 km before the finish. Qualification Qualification was based mainly on the UCI World Ranking by nations as of 30 June 2023. UCI World Rankings The following nations qualified. 2023 UCI Road World Championships
The 2023 UCI Road World Championships were the 96th edition of the UCI Road World Championships, the annual world championships for road bicycle racing. There were held between 5 and 13 August 2023 in Scotland, as part of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, inaugural UCI Cycling World Championships. A total of thirteen events were held, consisting of six road races (all finishing in Glasgow city centre), six individual time trials (starting and finishing in Stirling) and a team time trial mixed relay (also held in Glasgow). Matthew Dinham (born 9 April 2000) is an Australian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Early life Dinham was born in South Africa and lived there until he was 11. He started riding at the age of four, trying most of the other disciplines of cycling before settling on road. Owain Daniel Doull (born 2 May 1993) is a Welsh road and track cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Doull specialises in the team pursuit on the track, and won a gold medal in the discipline at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro; as a result, he became the first Welsh-speaking athlete to win Olympic gold. Career history Doull was born and raised in Cardiff, Wales where he was educated at Ysgol y Wern and Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf. As a child he was a keen sportsperson and played rugby as a schoolboy and started cycling for the Maindy Flyers at 14. John Degenkolb
John Degenkolb (born 7 January 1989) is a German professional road bicycle racer, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . His biggest wins to date are the 2015 Milan–San Remo and the 2015 Paris–Roubaix, two of cycling's five monuments.
