2023 U.S. Women's Open
The 2023 U.S. Women's Open was the 78th U.S. Women's Open, held July 6 to 9 at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. Allisen Corpuz won by three strokes over Charley Hull and Jiyai Shin. It was her first LPGA Tour win. Venue The course had previously hosted the U.S. Open for men six times. This was the first U.S. Women's Open held on the course. Course layout Field The field for the U.S. Women's Open was made up of players who gained entry through qualifying events and those who were exempt from qualifying. The exemption criteria included provision for recent major champions, winners of major amateur events, and leading players in the Women's World Golf Rankings. The USGA accepted a record number of entries for the championship, 2,107 players. The purse for the tournament was a record $11 million with a record winner's share of $2 million. Pebble Beach, California
Pebble Beach is an unincorporated community on the Monterey Peninsula in Monterey County, California. The small coastal residential community of mostly single-family homes is also notable as a resort destination, and the home of the golf courses of Cypress Point Club, Monterey Peninsula Country Club, and Pebble Beach Golf Links. Jill McGill
Jill McGill (born January 30, 1972) is an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour. McGill was born in Denver, Colorado. She played college golf at the University of Southern California and won the U.S. Women's Amateur title in 1993 and the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links in 1994. She played on the 1994 Curtis Cup team. She turned professional in December 1994. McGill finished tied second at the 1995 Women's British Open, when it was co-sanctioned with the LPGA Tour and the Ladies European Tour, but not yet recognized as a major championship by the LPGA Tour. Leona Maguire (born 30 November 1994) is an Irish professional golfer. She was ranked 1st in the world on the women's World Amateur Golf Ranking from May 2015 until May 2016 and then from August 2016 until February 2018. Bronte May Law (born 12 March 1995) is an English professional golfer. Her maiden LPGA Tour victory, her first win as a professional, came in May 2019 at the Pure Silk Championship in Virginia. Her second professional victory occurred in October 2021 in Dubai; this was her first win on the Ladies European Tour. Nelly Korda (born July 28, 1998) is an American professional golfer who plays on the LPGA Tour, where she has won seven times and reached number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings. Korda won the Olympic gold medal at the women's individual golf event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Lydia Ko (born 24 April 1997) is a New Zealand professional golfer and the No. 1-ranked woman professional golfer. She first achieved the top ranking on 2 February 2015 at of age, making her the youngest player of either gender to be ranked No. 1 in professional golf. Megan Khang
Megan Khang (born October 23, 1997) is an American professional golfer. She plays on the LPGA Tour and is the first player of Hmong and Laotian descent to do so. Khang's parents were refugees from the Vietnam War from Laos and came to the United States with their respective families in the 1970s. Khang was born in Brockton, Massachusetts in 1997 and learned the sport from her father. She qualified for the 2012 U.S. Women's Open at the age of 14.
