2023 Spa-Francorchamps Formula 3 Round
The 2023 Spa-Francorchamps Formula 3 round was a motor racing event held between 28 and 30 July 2023 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Belgium. It was the penultimate race of the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship, and was held in support of the 2023 Belgian Grand Prix. Driver changes Prior to the round at the Spa-Francorchamps, Rodin Carlin announced that Euroformula Open racer Francesco Simonazzi had taken over Max Esterson's seat for the rest of the season. Classification Qualifying Notes: * - Gabriele Minì received a 5-place grid penalty for the feature race for causing a collision with Pepe Martí in the sprint race. Sprint Race No points were awarded after this race as there was no two consecutive laps under green flag. Circuit De Spa-Francorchamps
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps (), frequently referred to as ''Spa'', is a motor-racing circuit located in Stavelot, Belgium. It is the current venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1925, and has held a Grand Prix every year since 1985 (except 2003 and 2006). Spa also hosts several other international events including the 24 Hours of Spa, the World Endurance Championship 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps. It is also home to the Uniroyal Fun Cup 25 Hours of Spa, one of the longest motor races in the world. The circuit has undergone several redesigns through its history, most extensively in 1979 when the track was modified and shortened from a circuit using public roads to a permanent circuit due to safety concerns with the old circuit. Euroformula Open Championship
The Euroformula Open Championship (formerly the Spanish Formula Three Championship, European F3 Open Championship) is a junior formula racing series based in Spain. It was one of six national and international Formula Three championships in Europe and Scandinavia that together used to form an important part of the established "career ladder" below Formula One. The championship's first season was held in 2001. In 2006, it was branded as the Spanish F3 Championship by Toyota, in deference to its sole engine supplier. In 2020, the championship ceased to be a F3-championship and will share its specifications with Japan's Super Formula Lights based on the previous-generation Formula Three standards, primarily with a choice of engines. Hugh Barter
Hugh Barter (born 15 September 2005) is an Australian-Japanese racing driver who is currently racing in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship for Campos Racing. He previously competed in both the Spanish F4 and French F4 Championship, finishing runner-up in the 2021 French F4 Championship, the 2022 French F4 Championship and the 2022 F4 Spanish Championship respectively. Career Karting After starting to race in karts at the age of six, Barter progressed into national competitions, where he came second in the Australian Kart Championship in 2019 and won the opening round of the 2020 season, prior to the season being abandoned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Jonny Edgar (born 13 February 2004) is an English racing driver currently set to race in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship for MP Motorsport. He is a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and is the 2020 ADAC Formula 4 champion. Career Karting Born in Whitehaven, Edgar started his career in 2012, being in the fourth generation of Edgars to practice motor racing. Edgar began his karting career with Fusion Motorsport in Britain, finishing second in the Super 1 National Championship just three years after his debut. He also won the SKUSA SuperNationals that year, driving for Team Benik. Dino Beganovic ( bs, Beganović [ˈdino bɛˈɡanovitɕ]; born 19 January 2004) is a Swedish-Bosnian racing driver, currently set to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Prema Racing. Zak O'Sullivan (born 6 February 2005) is a British racing driver of Irish descent who is set to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship for Prema Racing. Nikola Tsolov ( bg, Никола Цолов, born 21 December 2006) is a Bulgarian racing driver who is the current champion of the F4 Spanish Championship and a member of the Alpine Affiliate programme. Franco Alejandro Colapinto (born 27 May 2003) is an Argentine-Italian racing driver who is due to compete in FIA Formula 3 for MP Motorsport. Gabriele Minì (born 20 March 2005) is an Italian racing driver who is scheduled to race in the 2023 FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. He is the 2020 Italian F4 Champion, and was runner-up during the 2022 Formula Regional European Championship. Career Karting Minì started his karting career in 2012. His first karting title came in the Italian Championship in 2017 in the 60 Mini Class at the age of 12.
