In September 2023, heavy rainfall and strong winds from an extratropical cyclone resulted in the deaths of at least 47 people in Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil, 940 injured, and caused $1.3 million in damage. Flooding also impacted several municipalities in Rio Grande do Sul, including Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, Bento Gonçalves, Caxias do Sul, Ibiraiaras, Lajeado do Bugre, Nova Bassano, Santo Expedito do Sul, and São Jorge, Rio Grande do Sul, São Jorge. The floods also prompted a state of emergency to be declared in the state by governor Eduardo Leite. Passo Fundo
Passo Fundo is a municipality in the north of the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. It is named after its river. It's the twelfth largest city in the state with an estimated population of 204,722 inhabitants living in a total municipal area of 780 km2. Passo Fundo is a city well known because of the singer, composer and filmmaker Vitor Mateus Teixeira, better known as Teixeirinha, he was born in the city of Rolante in Rio Grande do Sul, and adopted the city of Passo Fundo as his own, the singer liked a lot from the city, in 1960 he composed the song "Gaúcho de Passo Fundo", which was very successful and made Passo Fundo become a known city throughout Brazil. São Sebastião ( Portuguese for Saint Sebastian) is a Brazilian municipality, located on the southeast coast of Brazil, in the state of São Paulo. 2023 São Paulo Floods And Landslides
During the 2023 Brazilian Carnival holiday weekend, record-breaking rainfall—reaching in 24 hours—caused deadly floods and landslides across the state of São Paulo. At least 65 people were killed, of which 64 were in São Sebastião. Background The affected regions of São Paulo are located in coastal communities surrounded by mountains. On 18–19 February 2023, an area of low pressure off the coast of Brazil brought moist onshore flow, leading to significant rainfall in the region.
