2023 New York Giants Season
The 2023 season was the New York Giants' 99th in the National Football League (NFL) and their second under the head coach/general manager tandem of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen. They failed to improve upon their 9–7–1 record from 2022 after a Week 10 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Following an overtime victory by the Philadelphia Eagles over the Buffalo Bills in Week 12, the Giants were eliminated from contention for the NFC East title. They were eliminated from playoff contention following a Christmas Day loss to the Eagles. A historically poor offensive line and numerous injuries, particularly losing starting quarterback Daniel Jones to a torn ACL in a Week 9 loss against the Raiders, plagued the team throughout the year. Their offensive line allowed an abysmal 85 sacks (An average of 5 sacks per game), the second highest number of sacks allowed by a team in a single season. The National Football Conference – Eastern Division or NFC East is one of the four Division (sport), divisions of the National Football Conference (NFC) in the National Football League (NFL). Daniel Stephen Jones III (born May 27, 1997) is an American football quarterback for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Duke and was selected sixth overall by the Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft. Early years Jones attended Charlotte Latin School in Charlotte, North Carolina. Justin Jamaal Ellis (born December 27, 1990) is an American football nose tackle who is a free agent. He was drafted by the Oakland Raiders in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft. Landon Alexander Collins (born January 10, 1994) is an American football safety and linebacker for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Alabama, where he was a part of the team that won the 2013 BCS National Championship Game. Matthew John Breida (born February 28, 1995) is an American football running back for the New York Giants of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Georgia Southern and signed with the 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2017. He has also played for the Miami Dolphins.
