2023 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship Game
The 2023 NCAA Division I men's basketball championship game was the final game of the 2023 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. It determined the national champion for the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season and was contested by the San Diego State Aztecs from the Mountain West Conference and the Connecticut (UConn) Huskies from the Big East Conference. The game was played on April 3, 2023, at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. In the game, UConn defeated San Diego State, 76–59, to win their fifth national championship in five appearances. Brian Dutcher
Brian James Dutcher (born October 30, 1959) is an American college basketball coach and is the head coach for the San Diego State Aztecs men's team of the Mountain West Conference. He was an assistant under head coach Steve Fisher with the Michigan Wolverines and San Diego State, succeeding Fisher as Aztecs' head coach upon his retirement in 2017. Coaching career Dutcher has more than 30 years of coaching experience, including 18 seasons as an assistant to Steve Fisher at San Diego State preceded by nine at the University of Michigan. Dutcher joined then-interim coach Fisher in 1989 when Michigan won the national championship. Dutcher is credited for having a central role in recruiting the Fab Five to Michigan and for bringing Kawhi Leonard to San Diego State. Mountain West Conference
The Mountain West Conference (MW) is one of the collegiate athletic conferences affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) (formerly I-A). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Geographically, the MW covers a broad expanse of the Western United States, with member schools located in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. The 2022–23 Ohio State Buckeyes men's basketball team represented Ohio State University in the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. Their head coach was Chris Holtmann, who was in his sixth season with the Buckeyes. The Buckeyes played their home games at Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio as members of the Big Ten Conference. 2022 Maui Invitational
The 2022 Maui Invitational Tournament was an early-season college basketball tournament that was played for the 39th time. The tournament began in 1984 and was part of the 2022–23 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The tournament returned to Maui, Hawaii for the first time since 2019 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Championship Round featured the Arizona Wildcats & Creighton Bluejays. Arizona won their 3rd tournament title by a score of 81–79.
