2023 KBO League Season
The 2023 KBO League season was the 42nd season in the history of the KBO League. The regular season began on April 1 and concluded on October 17. A postseason followed, culminating with the Korean Series championship. SSG Landers entered the season as the defending champions. No changes were made to the league's makeup from the prior season, with the same ten teams competing. Each team played 144 games via facing every other team 16 times. KBO League
The KBO League (), officially the Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League, is the highest level league of baseball in South Korea. The KBO League was founded with six franchises in 1982 and is the most popular sports league in South Korea. The Kia Tigers are the most successful team, having won 11 of the 40 championships. Korea Baseball Organization
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO; ko, 한국야구위원회) is the governing body for the professional leagues of baseball in South Korea. The KBO was founded in 1981 and has governed two leagues: the KBO League ( ko, KBO 리그) and KBO Futures League ( ( farm league) since 1982. It is one of two major baseball governing bodies; the other is the Korea Baseball Association ( ko, 대한야구협회), which is the governing body for amateur baseball competitions. The KBO is a member of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF), and is responsible for the national baseball team for the World Baseball Classic and Asia Series. In sports, a winning percentage is the fraction of games or matches a team or individual has won. The statistic is commonly used in standings or rankings to compare teams or individuals. It is defined as wins divided by the total number of matches played (i.e. wins plus draws plus losses). 2023 Korean Series
The 2023 Korean Series (known as ''2023 Shinhan Bank SOL Korean Series'' for sponsorship reasons) was the championship series of the 2023 KBO League season. The series started on November 7 and ended on November 13. The LG Twins clinched the best record of the 2023 season and advanced to the Korean Series. Twins won the regular season in 29 years, which is winning first time since 1994 regular season. Also it is first time to advance Korean Series since 2002 post season. This stage will be challenge for the Korean championship title in 29 years of Twins. KT Wiz, who defeated the NC Dinos 3-2 in the KBO League playoffs, begun their regular season at near of bottom of the table, but succeed to rise their standing in June. At last the Wiz sealed the 2nd table in regular season before a week of season ending, and showed wizard's magic that directly advance to play off from bottom. A draw or tie occurs in a competitive sport when the results are identical or inconclusive. Ties or draws are possible in some, but not all, sports and games. Games Played
Games played (GP) is a statistic used in team sports to indicate the total number of games in which a player has participated (in any capacity); the statistic is generally applied irrespective of whatever portion of the game is contested. Baseball In baseball, the statistic applies to players, who prior to a game, are included on a starting lineup card or are announced as an ''ex ante'' substitute, whether or not they play. For pitchers only, the statistic games pitched is used. Kiwoom Heroes
The Kiwoom Heroes () are a South Korean professional baseball team based in Seoul. They are a member of the KBO League. The Heroes play their home games at Gocheok Sky Dome in Gocheok-dong, a neighborhood located in the southwestern part of Seoul. The Heroes mascot is ''Teokdori'' (; Mr. Jaw). In 2014, the Futures League squad changed its name to Hwaseong Heroes (), differentiating from the first string. In 2019, Hwaseong Heroes renamed as Goyang Heroes (). History The franchise was originally known as the Sammi SuperStars and had subsequent incarnations as the Chungbo Pintos and Pacific Dolphins. The team was renamed the Hyundai Unicorns after being sold to Hyundai in 1996, and was relocated from Incheon to Suwon. The Unicorns won the KBO championship four times (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2004).
