The 2023 German Darts Championship was the thirteenth of thirteen PDC European Tour events on the 2023 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at Halle 39, Hildesheim, Germany from 13 to 15 October 2023. It featured a field of 48 players and £175,000 in prize money, with £30,000 going to the winner. The defending champion was , who defeated 8–5 in the 2022 final, but he lost 6–7 to in the semi-finals. Pietreczko won his first European Tour and his first PDC ranking title as well, defeating 8–4 in the final., He became only the second German player to win a PDC ranking title, and the first since in 2019. PDC European Tour
The PDC European Tour is a series of darts tournaments held across Europe organized by the Professional Darts Corporation. Starting in 2012 with five events, the number of events has steadily risen with eight held in 2013 and 2014, nine in 2015, ten in 2016, twelve in 2017, thirteen in both 2018 and 2019, and thirteen once more in 2020 (although that was reduced to four, owing to the COVID-19 pandemic), and only two events took place in 2021, with a return to thirteen events in 2022. These events see the top players on the PDC ProTour Order of Merit compete against players from six different regional qualifiers. Currently the prize fund for each tournament is £140,000, with £25,000 going to the winner. 2023 PDC Pro Tour
The 2023 PDC Pro Tour is the current series of non-televised darts tournaments organised by the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Players Championships and European Tour events are the events that make up the Pro Tour. There will be thirty Players Championship events and thirteen PDC European Tour events, as well as 24 events for the Challenge and Development Tours, and the Women's Series. Prize money On 21 November 2022, it was announced that the prize money for the Women's Series will be doubled in 2023. The following day, it was announced that the prize money for Challenge/Development Tour events would also increase, with the prize fund going up from £10,000 to £15,000 per event. The 2022 Interwetten German Darts Championship was the second of thirteen PDC European Tour events on the 2022 PDC Pro Tour. The tournament took place at Halle 39, Hildesheim from 11 to 13 March 2022. It featured a field of 48 players and £140,000 in prize money, with £25,000 going to the winner. Devon Petersen was the defending champion after defeating Jonny Clayton 8–3 in the 2020 final, but lost to Michael Smith in the second round. PDC Order Of Merit
The PDC Order of Merit is a world ranking system used by one of the darts organisations, the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). Following the 2007 PDC World Darts Championship it superseded a world ranking system based on points being awarded for performances in ranking tournaments. How it works The Order of Merit is similar to that employed in golf's European Tour. Prize money won during the previous two seasons is calculated and the rankings are determined from this money list. Gerwyn Stephen Price (born 7 March 1985) is a Welsh professional darts player and former professional rugby union and rugby league player. Nicknamed "The Iceman", he competes in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), where he is currently the World No. 4. Ross Smith (born 12 January 1989) is an English professional darts player who plays in events of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC). He is the winner of the 2022 European Championship. Career Smith began playing in Professional Darts Corporation events in 2005 and made his debut in the Vauxhall Spring Open, reaching the last 16. Smith then reached the final of the WDF Europe Youth Cup, losing to Dutchman Johnny Nijs. Smith had little success afterwards on the PDC circuit and switched to the BDO in 2007.
