2023 French Open – Women's Singles
Defending champion Iga Świątek defeated Karolína Muchová in the final, 6–2, 5–7, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2023 French Open. It was her third French Open title and fourth major title overall. Świątek became the third woman in the Open Era (after Monica Seles and Naomi Osaka) to win her first four major finals, and the youngest woman to win four majors since Serena Williams in 2002. Świątek also became the first player to defend the French Open title since Justine Henin in 2007, and the first woman to defend a major title since Serena Williams at the 2016 Wimbledon Championships. Świątek dropped just one set en route to the title, to Muchová in the final. Iga Świątek
Iga Natalia Świątek (; born 31 May 2001) is a Polish professional tennis player. She is currently ranked world No. 1 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA). Świątek is a three-time major singles champion, having won the French Open in 2020 and 2022 and the US Open in 2022. She is the first player representing Poland to win a major singles title. She has won a total of 11 WTA Tour-level titles. Świątek's father Tomasz is a retired Olympic rower. As a junior, Świątek was the 2018 French Open girls' doubles champion alongside Caty McNally and the 2018 Wimbledon girls' singles champion. Elena Rybakina
Elena Andreyevna Rybakina (born 17 June 1999) is a Kazakhstani professional tennis player. She is the reigning champion at Wimbledon and the first Kazakhstani player to win a title at a major. She is also the first to be ranked in the world's top 15, with a career-high ranking of No. 12 by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), and the current Kazakhstani No. 1 player in women's singles. Jessica Pegula (born February 24, 1994) is an American professional tennis player. She has a career-high WTA rankings in singles and doubles of world No. 3, both achieved on October 24, 2022. She has won two singles titles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour, one WTA Challenger doubles title, and seven ITF doubles titles. Sloane Stephens defeated Madison Keys in the final, 6–3, 6–0 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2017 US Open. It was her first major title. Stephens became the second unseeded woman in the Open Era to win the title after Kim Clijsters in 2009. It was the first all-American final at the US Open since 2002. For the first time at a major since the 1985 Wimbledon Championships, all four semifinalists were American, and all from the same country overall.
