2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships
The 2023 European Athletics Indoor Championships will be held from 2 to 5 March 2023 at the Ataköy Athletics Arena in Istanbul, Turkey, the first time the event has taken place in this country although the venue did stage the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships, 2012 World Indoor Championships. The four-day competition will be held during the centenary year of the Republic of Turkey, and will feature 13 men's and 13 women's athletics events over three morning and four afternoon sessions. More than 600 athletes from the 51 European Athletics Member Federations are expected to compete in Ataköy Arena. Marta García Alonso (born 1 January 1998) is a Spanish middle- and long-distance runner competing for the On Athletics Club Europe. She won the bronze medal in the 1500 m at the 2019 Mediterranean Athletics U23 Indoor Championships, and she was the 2021 Spanish Indoor Athletics Championships and 2023 Spanish outdoor championships winner in the 3000 metres and 5000 metres respectively. Agate Caune ( ; born 7 August 2004) is a Latvian track and field athlete. A multiple national champion, she is also the Latvian national record holder over 3000 metres. She was named the Rising Star of the Year and the female U20 Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2022. Career Early career Caune started out in 2019 as the Latvian U16 champion in the 1500 metres and 3000 metres events.
